  1. vjd's = the 1st issue of contemporary, prestige et al on cd that later became known as "OJC" vjd was the catalog prefix tho and OJC was just like an abbiv. for orig. jazz classics oh my bad, i mean vdj, yea VDJ!
  2. its legit dawg!! the sidewinder is like one of blue note's most pulled tapes. some do have the original boxes if youve seen other pics- here u have a photocopy of the 1970s era sheet taped on to what i guess what yr saying is an even newer box!
  3. still, its kind of nuts that someone took the time to manufacture this- the one that gets me all the time, is Hank Mobley: 14 complete BN album on 4 compact discs! that i saw in the last few yrs, when the last brick n morter recordstore in town has their new jazz cd sec. CHOCK FULL of these types of releases
  4. it just so happens gene ammons is an artist of which i have nothing in the digital format, lol **are there any VJD series gene ammons cds. a lot of those sound great and many times i consider them to be an upgrade of the vinyl
  5. did we all know about the elmo hope st that was just dedicated. IMO he gets the street not only for being a great musican but also for being the guy that showed its not mobley or coltrane, its mobley *and* coltrane, im serious dawg- that was major
  6. i like double drums in my rock bands-- i have been trying to think back, have i ever experienced a jazz concert like that-rand i can only think of one--- sonny rollins maybe 15 yrs ago, the drummer and percusionst synced up in double drumming swing just how i like- happy bday sonny

  16. do the liners dicuss how they got this from columbia? i also wonder if columbia ran them off a copy or let them use the tapes
