  10. well, glad to see i'm not the only one who complained about the sound quality. since the lovano cd was at the vangard also, and also has lousy sound, is it possible that the lousy quality has something to do with the venue?
  11. well, i have an open mind. i'll try it this week in the car and report back,
  12. the cd-fix-it appears to have removed many (not all) of the scratches. i can't comment about the toothpaste.
  13. thank goodness! i was having withdrawals!
  14. I am a Jason Moran fan and I think his Modernistic cd is incredible. Unfortunately, because of horrible sound quality the Bandwagon cd is unlistenable. Save your money and skip this one!
  15. O.K. i'm about to share the good news with you all! You see, i had a few cd's that skipped and/or got hung up in an endless repeat in my cd player. i did'nt want to re-buy them so i thought i would take a chance on a "cd-fix-it" kit. well it worked. i tried it on 3 cd's and all played perfectly! oh, btw, i don't own the company or have any interest in it, or have a cousin's brother's aunt who works there, etc. (legal disclaimer ). anyway, the way it works is you squeeze a few drops of this guey stuff (they call it a polymer) on to the cd, smooth it around, let it dry and wipe it off (kind of how i waxed my dad's car in the late sixties). then voila! into the cd player and it is like magic! and here's the best part. it cost 5 bucks! you get it from cd2000, inc., 1-847-991-5579; email: info@cd2000inc.com oh happy day!!!!
  16. nope. i'm afraid that i don't know what aaj is.
  17. you think you had a bad day, first i drive my car into a swimming pool, then not only do my shorts shrink but i was in the water so long my skin got all wrinkled!
  18. quoting edward norton's (can't remember the movie title) toast "Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends!" Seriously, we should pick a jazz festival each year and all show up! B)
  19. i guess we won't get work release again for a long time!
  20. is there a way us latecomers can get (buy?) the three prior discs?
  21. great!! i'm in!!!
  22. The last few days i've been listening to some herbie mann cd's that you won't find in your amg jazz guide. "London Underground" and "Deep Pocket." Now first let me say that there is a version of Layla on London Underground that is incredible! Deep pocket has a terrific cover of Mustang Sally. Now the dilema. where to file? I have Memphis Underground and a few other Mann cd's all filed (alphabetically) in my "Jazz" section, but these new cd's aren't really jazz--or are they? Taking popular "rock" songs and rearranging them, then playing them without vocals and with instruments not previously used--mixing up the tempos--well, if it is not jazz, what is it? My inclination is to file them in jazz, but . . . one final thought-please, please do NOT post that horrible half-naked mann album cover--ugh B)
