  1. I like David Crosby just fine, but my interest in The Byrds plunges with Gene Clark's departure. I've never really been convinced by their version of psychedelia anyway. Give me the first three Love LPs, Buffalo Springfield, The Monkees' HEADQUARTERS and PISCES AQUARIUS etc. over anything after FIFTH DIMENSION. But that's just me.
  2. FWIW/IMO, this is a Joe solo that demonstrates how great players are capable of breaking down (as in: getting to the truth of; as in, demolishing) the whole "inside/outside" discourse.
  3. Condolences to all of Bill's family and friends. I'll miss interacting with him here.
  4. This is news to me, but intrigued. (I was just reading about Michaux's films, coincidentally.) Roach also provides the score for HOW TO DRAW A BUNNY, a 2002 documentary about artist Ray Johnson. That film, which I have seen and recommend, is available via Vimeo.
  5. Somewhat inexplicably, a new discovery for me. To quote Clarence Carter ("Road of Love"): "I like what I'm listening to right now."

    Dave Burns!
  7. Yeah, 100% auditioning this one again for "Moon Rays."
  8. Perhaps the Horace Silver date I most consistently overlook/forget about.
  9. Lorde Tom Lord Peter Jason Quill
  10. Wait... it's not a silhouette? It's just a piece of painted plywood!?!? In all seriousness, the angle at which this figure is holding their horn... vaguely Ayler-esque?
  11. Same here. One thing's for sure: we can rule out Jerry West.
  12. Superb solo piano set.
  13. I believe this is now in general circulation (it began life as a limited edition). It's much more than an odds and sods collection. It does a fine job of tracking Buckley's evolution from HAPPY/SAD to GOODBYE AND HELLO. Specifically, you can hear him his looser, more expressionistic vocal approach — one less indebted to folk traditions — begin to emerge. http://www.timbuckley.com/works-in-progress/
  14. You know, if they were still doing Mosaic Selects, those Muse dates would make a nice collection. I remember SONGS OF COURAGE, with a few guests appearances by Roland Alexander, being quite fine.
  15. FWIW, this can be purchased on Amazon for a mere 2.97 USD. I prefer to transact via Bandcamp (thanks for that link!) myself, but if you are on a budget...
  16. The NYT on the new CT: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/14/arts/music/cecil-taylor-return-concert.html More info here: https://oblivionrecords.co/post/668026165367341056/our-new-release-50-years-later-a-new-vintage
  17. This Riverside date of roughly the same vintage is also very enjoyable.
