  1. This is news to me, but intrigued. (I was just reading about Michaux's films, coincidentally.) Roach also provides the score for HOW TO DRAW A BUNNY, a 2002 documentary about artist Ray Johnson. That film, which I have seen and recommend, is available via Vimeo.
  2. Somewhat inexplicably, a new discovery for me. To quote Clarence Carter ("Road of Love"): "I like what I'm listening to right now."

    Dave Burns!
  4. Yeah, 100% auditioning this one again for "Moon Rays."
  5. Perhaps the Horace Silver date I most consistently overlook/forget about.
  6. Lorde Tom Lord Peter Jason Quill
  7. Wait... it's not a silhouette? It's just a piece of painted plywood!?!? In all seriousness, the angle at which this figure is holding their horn... vaguely Ayler-esque?
  8. Same here. One thing's for sure: we can rule out Jerry West.
  9. Superb solo piano set.
  10. I believe this is now in general circulation (it began life as a limited edition). It's much more than an odds and sods collection. It does a fine job of tracking Buckley's evolution from HAPPY/SAD to GOODBYE AND HELLO. Specifically, you can hear him his looser, more expressionistic vocal approach — one less indebted to folk traditions — begin to emerge. http://www.timbuckley.com/works-in-progress/
  11. You know, if they were still doing Mosaic Selects, those Muse dates would make a nice collection. I remember SONGS OF COURAGE, with a few guests appearances by Roland Alexander, being quite fine.
  12. FWIW, this can be purchased on Amazon for a mere 2.97 USD. I prefer to transact via Bandcamp (thanks for that link!) myself, but if you are on a budget...
  13. The NYT on the new CT: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/14/arts/music/cecil-taylor-return-concert.html More info here: https://oblivionrecords.co/post/668026165367341056/our-new-release-50-years-later-a-new-vintage
  14. This Riverside date of roughly the same vintage is also very enjoyable.

Love this compilation of experimental Uruguayan pop from the 80s: https://vampisoul.bandcamp.com/album/am-rica-invertida
  16. Dottie "Doc" McStuffins Dashiell Hammett Alan Turing
  17. Curious about the other project. Not so interested in the Frisell-Lovano trio. (Though I'd like for those two musicians to surprise me. I know Sorey will.)
  18. As good as this sort of thing gets.
