Just arrived home, saw tonight Joe Sullivan big band with featured guess George Garzone. The band which features a who's who of Montreal's finest jazz musicians was cooking. The guest of honor also showed what he's made of. Honorable mention to alto sax Remi Bolduc who had a great solo in the first piece of the evening in a fine piece of music called Icebreaker. Sometimes you wonder why you bother buying tickets and going to all the trouble to see a live show, and then you get this answer, it's the chance that you'll assist to something special like it was the case tonight.

i applaud you for being the winner of the "half full glass of water thinker award"!!! i wish . . . Thank you, thank you, but in all seriousness, i've noticed that often even "big time jazz festival" will have headliners that do not belong in the jazz sphere to attract a more mainstream crowd while the jazzmen not having the same notoriety were put aside promotion wise. To give you an idea in Montreal the big names that have been announced for this year are so far; James Taylor, Leonard Cohen and Woody Allen . Unfortunately, in this case (Hampton festival), what you see is what you get and that ain't good

Started reading this. Don't really know much about him, hope it's a great starting point.

What's the point of 50 straight hours devoted to a subject on radio, would the fans of this be better served having it offered on small doses on a regular schedule. I agree there is a lot of great stuff but who's got the time to listen to all of that in one weekend.

Is that all there is, sometimes the headliners can be crap but you can still find some hidden gems that won't be advertised because of not being names ?

Rented the DVd for the family, watching the extras, did not know that the character of Carla Jean was played by a Scottish actress, for the Texans in the crowd, did she nailed the accent ? She got me fooled.

I would doubt it because they become out of date over time. Certainly not a market to be "vintage" I don't think. I'd check on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace to see what the typical selling or offering prices are. Thanks for answering.

Did not want to start a thread about so i'll ask you in this one. I have a bunch of old baseball encyclopedias (from 1990s and early 2000s) that i want to get rid. Total Baseball, a few Old Major League ones, the Big Stats books, is there a market for these things ? I know i could just put them on Ebay but before i go to the trouble of the shipping and packaging that comes with it, these things are huge are heavy, is it really worth it ?

Watching Freaks & Geeks, loved the ending on episode when Lindsay helps Daniel on his math assignment, they found a great way to avoid any cheesiness.

You get to the Kracked Kettle and that smoky hole-in-the-wall brew joint ('Golem') just across the alley? Have not checked out, how you stand on free and more adventurous jazz, but if it's your cup of tea you might check out the festival Suoni per il popolo in june, over the years i tend to prefer this festival over the bigger one. The problem is not one post more than other, it's the accumulation of posts denigrating the subject. You don't like the dude's music, you write about it what you don't like about him that's fine with me that's what this board is for.... ... but keeping on ranting about how the guy sucks, geez Louise there must be better things to do... Life is short, music is about having fun, why should you waste your time about things you only have desdain.

Oooo, there for the Expo eh? I was 5 on a family trip, however my parents' idea of fun was to visit Expo '67 in '68. Still very cool, and I remember the geodesic dome & many of the pavilions looking like it was someplace from the future. Note to Weizen - I think most of it was disassembled and moved elsewhere or torn down. A tour of Expo '67 Only the carcasse of the biosphere remains, besides one of the Pavillons, think it was the French is now a casino

Depends on what you prefer to do, Toronto in cultural activities to my huge chagrin is now more big time than Montreal is. For the rest Montreal has a chaotic quality while Toronto is in a way a little straight. If money is an issue, Montreal is cheaper.

That's what made this game kinda blasphemous.

As a athlete , i'm as bad as it gets, i was the kind of kid who was always picked last in team sports, my skating skills made Garth Butcher look like Brian Boitano compared to me. Besides watching them sports were not a big part of my life. I went a few times at the old Forum, my first game there was the Habs against the Nordiques, at the time Guy Lafleur was playing for Quebec so it was the only time i got to see live my favourite player, it was quite a thrill. Saw a few Canada Cup games as well. Regarding the feeling about watching a game live compared on tv, it is quite amusing that most Americans have that problem, never felt that the game was that dilluted on the small screen. I remember my frustration when Fox started broadcasting games on National TV and used all those gimmicks like the glowing puck. Only good thing they did good was to devise the behind the net shot during a power play. To be honest i have stopped following the game a long time ago, i basically check out the scores on the newspaper and that's about it.

I think because of copyright reasons, very few complete archived games are available on a legal basis on the web. And the NHL makes sure to close down any site infringing them. In this case it's actually the site of the original broadcaster who's hosting the original tape At best you can maybe find on Youtube some highlights, anyway i'll try to do some research in my free time.
