  1. It was an exciting game between the Frenchies but neither team looked like squads that would be contenders for the big title, way too many holes on defense. Meanwhile, a bit of of an upset with Bayern winning the 1st leg.
  2. Mostly weekend boxing action Arthur Abraham vs Andre Dirrell Marcos Rene Maidana vs Victor Manuel Cayo Joan Guzman vs Ali Funeka Grzegorz Kielsa vs Neven Pajkic Koki Kameda vs Pongsalek Wonjongkam
  3. I love the Sadies but they don't fit in the mold of what Bev is looking for. They have more of a rock attitude Think of it Neko Case could be your thing, Eleni Mandell could be another one to explore I think the Sadies are a great suggestion. Very much a Byrds-like sound (Clarence White era). They need to be seen live to really appreciate them, though. While their albums are good, you don't get the full effect of the Good brothers until you see them work together on stage. BTW, the Sadies back up Neko Case on "The Tigers Have Spoken". I saw Neko Case backed up by them great memories, for the rest pretty much agreed except that the Byrds comparaisons stop at a certain point because they have a rather wide palette of styles , so in a way they remind you of a lot of bands.

  5. Plus she sings like one
  6. Not all of them, but some Nancy Griffith recordings might be in your alley
  7. I saw on another thread you already have some Alison Krauss, besides that have you checked out Alela Diane.
  8. Saw Osby last summer, was quite talkative, maybe he was in a bad day ?
  9. A bit cheap, on the positive side, for those who are running out of room, they won't take much place.
  10. A UPS delivery guy went to my mother, he told her that nobody answered at the place he was supposed to deliver it,so he left her the package. The package was computer equipment worth more than 200 $
  11. Had a few bad stories with UPS, my latest was commented in the NewYorker thread,
  12. Problems are back, emoticons are shut off, can't insert any any images while using IE. I fiddled with the compatibility to no avail.
  13. Finished the first part, one thing for sure won't watch the movie, compared to the scenes described in the book Antichrist is a Walt Disney story. The book is nontheless fascinating although it feels like a porn movie, dirty and explicite scenes followed by philosophical comments and so on. Will read the second part eventually but need to read something different, to woipe away the memory of blood and other body fluids. Have startd reading this one. What's going on I can't post pictures anymore ??? Anyway Common Ground by Anthony Lukas If this is as fascinating as Big Trouble by the same author, I'll be for a treat.
  14. Went with Amazon France, it was around 90 Euros shipping included.
  15. 23 cds for about 130 Canadian bucks, thanks. Would love to put emoticons but they don't seem available.
  16. Pilc is also part of a fine quartet led by Lew Soloff, would love to this formation in action. He's quite versatile he did a great job backing Elizabeth Kontamonou a few years ago.
  17. Attended last a fine doubleheader of music in two different venues for starters a Quartet led by sax player André Leroux involving pianist François Bourassa and bassist Fraser Hollins with guest Ari Hoenig and they played strong and hard ! Ended the night with alto Samuel Blais leading a trio with fine drummer Robbie Kuster and Larry Grenadier. For a band that has not played a lot together they looked quite tight. I knew mostly Grenadier as a sideman with Mehldau it was very interesting to see and har him in another context. Considering that prior to the Leroux there was a band of young musicians playing for a competition, it's almost 4 hours of libve music I heard last night, life can be good sometimes
  18. Long Dong Silver Long John Silver Alicia Silverstone Quite a threesome
  19. Rob Deer Jack Cust Pete Incaviglia
  20. The dumbass of the day goes to the UPS guy who delivered the package in my mailbox, as Chuck mentionned the content is rather large and my mailbox is about 4 inches deep. So the delivery guy let the box inside the mailbox, crashing the letters already inside it and letting the box visible to about everyone in the street. Fortunately it was still there when I arrived after work but still...
  21. Saw a quite enjoyable piano duo involving François Bourassa and Jean-Michel Pilc, it was recorded by the CBC and should be aired during the summer, so for those keeping score you might find it in some form on the web at some point.
  22. Being a Vert fan will cheer for les Girondins as well. Arsenal-Barça should be fun to watch
