    Dewey Left Town!

Nothing to add. R.I.P. He'll live on through his music...
  2. I want to hear more about this Larbor Day. If it means another day off work I'm all for it...
  3. I couldn't agree more. The shows are very entertaining. Any chance you remember where you got 'Weather' and 'Baseball' from ? I can't find them. Hmm. Can't seem to get a direct link to the topic in question, but seek out one entitled "First 7 XM Links." What I did, after getting to the Discussion Forum, was do a search for "Theme Show," limiting the search to the Rare Recordings folder. Search works much like it does here. There are several pages of related links, most pointing to Rapidshare files containing mp3 or wma versions of the shows. "Baseball" is a bit harder to find now since it was included on a bonus CD released with some copies of Dylan's new album - so some of them pulled the mp3 copies.
  4. Am i missing something or does Blue Note not have a link to any site actually selling the tones? Any recommendations on where to purchase one? I just got a new cell that actually lets me do such things...
  5. Don't know if this was asked/answered before... How 'bout Art Rupe, of Specialty Records? Is it "roop" or "rue-pee?"
  6. The wife brought some home last night. Surprisingly, it doesn't suck (had the diet variety; i assume it comes regular as well). I usually like cherry-flavored colas, but i detest Vanilla Coke, so this is a big step up from that.
  7. email sent, Allen!
  8. Y'know, I'm not sure why so many people think that the "old" CDs are so inferior sounding. Sure, some of the very early processors (circa 1984-5) weren't very good (or as good as now), but provided the original tapes were used and not multi-generational copies or LP masters, those "old" discs should sound mighty fine. If anything, I have more of a problem with some of the newer remasters, which are all too often too loud, overly compressed, or poorly equalized just because the mastering engineers have more high-tech gadgets at their disposal.
  9. Sorry. Click on "Discussions," then go to the "Rare Recordings" forum and do a search for "Theme Shows." Not exactly legit downloads, I'm sure, but Dylan seems to look the other way at them. Heck, I found the ExpectingRain link from Bob's official site...
  10. Let's just all call it the Interweb...
  11. I've been listening to Dylan's XM Theme Shows lately. You can download them as mp3s - links found here
  12. What price do they show up as in your basket? IIRC, the price of the discs automatically changed when you had enough discs to change pricing tiers.
  13. Hmmm. With this now out I may have to sell my box...
  14. I could be wrong but I would bet that as a matter of law, they had to have him in custody in the states before they could legally extract DNA for testing. I'm sure you're right, Dan (or at least I hope you're right). And could you imagine the stink if someone - in Thailand no less - were allowed to get away after "admitting" to the crime because the local cops dragged their ass to airtight their case? I'm sure the media grasping at straws and the Boulder cops eager to show progress exagerated the importance of this lead, but i don't feel Karr's arrest was unwarranted. He is still wanted for other crimes as well.
  15. Crazy bitch drivers...
  16. PM sent. Looking forward to it. Thanks!
  17. Are you sure that it's not, now, all in your head? "Villains!" I shrieked," dissemble no more! I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous (squirrel) heart!"
  18. It's not over yet. Maybe this thread should be moved to Politics... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/5283956.stm
  19. BREAKING NEWS!: a coworker of mine was vacationing in Thailand for two weeks and sharing the plane with him back to L.A. was none other than Mr. Karr. That's all...
  20. These are, flat-out, with-out-a-doubt, freakin' weird times we live in. To top it off we have to throw out everything we were ever taught about Pluto. He's not a dog after all?
  21. Looks like it's available now. But at $25 shipped it's priced a bit steep imo. I simply don't understand why, when musicians sell their goods directly on the net, they so often end up charging more than normal retail. I would think that without the record label and distribution cuts that they could offer their CDs more cheaply. Ah, what the fuck do i know about such things? But at $25 I'm more likely to pass on this one...
  22. Just thought I'd mention that I swung by a used CD store here in town over lunchtime and noticed that they were stocking quite a number of the Concord/OJC sale discs. I suppose they may have simply bought them directly at $3/each and jacked up the price in the store, but more likely they purchased them as "cutouts" from a distributor. So we may start to see these out there through other channels as well...
  23. Every time i read that i can't help thinking of this: "It's the wrong trousers Gromit, and they've gone wrong!"
  24. I'm not sure it's so easy to find squirrel repellent in Manhattan...
  25. Ouch!
