  1. So who wants to do up a cover graphic for "Everybody Hates Kenny G."?
  2. That's the usual culprit...
  3. Yeah, this could be stuff that they have an overabundance of (that either doesn't sell well or was overproduced or recently RVG'd) or it could be stuff that is low in stock and they just want to clear out of the warehouse to consolidate. Just speculating of course... It's probably safe to assume that some of the OJC Limiteds - if they are indeed being deleted - won't be "repressed" any time soon, but i don't think we have to worry about the Miles or Monk ever going oop.
  4. Yeah, but buying CDs on sale means there's more money left for other things!
  5. It's 'cause Amerika is racist I tell ya'!
  6. If it's any consolation, while shipping was free i had to pay tax.
  7. Looks good/interesting! Your previous ones have been pretty terrific too.
  8. If you like Dylan-jazz, seek out Michael Moore's Jewels & Binoculars. Also, my favorite Dylan-jazz cover is Keith Jarrett doing "My Back Pages."
  9. i keep mine in the box! And is the box stored in the attic?
  10. And don't limit yourself just to OJCs. There are some terrific Specialty Records comps of R&B, Blues, and Jump Blues that are to die for!
  11. Picked up an even 50! Like Jon, duplicated some I have on emusic... Free shipping too!
  12. Very surprising answers here - though I guess not really "surprising" just because i haven't heard of anyone save for Mraz and several of the classical composers. Really a great disc, Mike. Some ear-opening stuff to be sure. I'll be the first to admit to actually digging this "bonus" stuff more than the official BFT disc (and my apologies for not getting in my comments on that disc in time). I think I'll be off to Amoeba after work to see if I can dig up a couple of these discs... or at least pick up some other obscurities that may hold the odd surprise or two. Ah, the joy of new discoveries! Thanks again!
  13. Wow. I can smell the stink of Crouch's florid prose right through my monitor. Are we sure that's not a parody?
  14. Happy birthday, kid! I was about 17-18 when i fell into jazz, way back when...
  15. Haven't been there in years. Are they still on Melrose? Great selection, yes, but also *premium* prices. Not a friendly atmosphere either iirc, but expensive vinyl's not really my thing. I'd offer to meet you there - it's not far - but my wife's away and I'm stuck home with the kids.
  16. If i didn't already have the RRK box, here's one example where i'd say "Fuck Verve" and buy the Lonehill instead...
  17. I assume that's the noise-cancelling model?
  18. "All rise for the Hon. Judge Thompson..."
  19. But other record labels use much stronger tape that doesn't shed as badly as the BN/EMI stuff does. The tape Verve uses is better iirc. I think we all understand the purpose the tape serves, but you'd think the companies could spring for the "expensive" stuff. The music's worth it.
  20. I'm sure Cuscuna and those BN/EMI execs get comps - they don't have to deal with the sticky mess.
  21. Does this sound like a metaphor for U.S. foreign policy or what?
  22. "Attica! Attica! Attica!"
  23. But should we really have to do all that just to get a clean case?
  24. Yeah, the stuff that EMI uses is terrible. Other labels use tape that peels off more easily.
