  1. Girl names are easier... Anita Mosaic Ivana Mosaic Lotta Mosaic
  2. Hey Chuck, anything ever come of that Four Freshman-AEC session? That's be something to hear!
  3. To digress, I see Jim's been drinking again. But then it is Friday night...
  4. Manny if a man. But Soda if a girl. Unless he was an old man, then Pops Mosaic would be swell.
  5. Nice shot, Mark! He sure looks like he's having a good time.
  6. I've never understood an artist's reluctance to re-release older material. What could Jamal possibly mean by "cautious?" Does he not think it would sell? So what - it's the record company, not him, taking the risk. Is he embarrassed by his older material? I'd find that hard to believe. Does he not like the idea of maybe getting some money from some 40-year old performances that people are clamoring for?
  7. I'm undeniably a "song" guy, so I tend to dig most vocalists (provided they're good, of course - I just finished listening to a painfully bad vocal by Hampton Hawes; now there's a dude who shouldn't sing). I also think that the human voice is the most expressive of instruments. None of that means, obviously, that I don't love and appreciate instrumental jazz as well.
  8. If you install the Google tool bar you can clear the searches from it.
  9. Well that's it then - I'm done with following Armstrong's career... Seriously, I really couldn't care either way, though I'd hate to think that LA's possible hypocrisy might harm the image of the U.S. (or the sport in general) any further. Hmm. Were any other cyclists identified as having 7-year old doped blood? It seems if he's to be identified, that any others who tested positive should be as well. Or was only LA's blood preserved for seven years? I'm beginning to think that athletes should be allowed to use any performance-enhancing drugs they want. The results could be exciting, tragic, and amusing... perhaps all at the same time.
  10. Let's not go there, Mark. I've already been reminded by several this week that Steve Carell's character in "40 Year Old Virgin" has many of the same toys on his shelf as I do!
  11. I thought Humming to Myself was the new Keith Jarrett album...
  12. Geez, I've got one of them and it bores the shit out of me. Yeah, ECM isn't known for its grease...
  13. Well, no, it's not about the music. It is about that LP being a collectible. It's not my cuppa, but there's nothing wrong with that....
  14. Bach's Toccata and Fugue?
  15. Very sad. Saw him last year at a rare screening of Porgy and Bess. Such a charismatic actor and apparently a true gentleman.

    Favorite Solos

    * Keith Jarrett "Koln" * And say what you will about his singing on the tune, but I really dig Gary Bartz' solo that ends "Peace and Love" from his I've KNown Rivers... album.
  17. I'm not big on cycling, but aren't the athletes tested for drugs before/during/after the race? Is so, why wasn't anything detected - and more importantly, reported - any time during Armstrong's last seven victories? It seems odd to report it only now. And yes, I understand that there were allegations before, but was there ever any documented proof? And if there was proof, why was Armstrong (or anyone else who doped) allowed to race in the first place?
  18. For Columbia - and yes, limiting to "jazz" - I'd figure either Time Out, something by Miles (KOB or BB before Round About Midnight though) or possibly Concert by the Sea. For Atlantic - I dunno, but maybe Charles Lloyd or Herbie Mann??
  19. I'm almost embarrassed to say that I actually own seven of the above albums - though a few of them are as emusic downloads which I really haven't listened to yet - yet had trouble identifying anything with any certainty.
  20. Are those the same as the "unofficial" recordings that were on STG a while back? If so, the sound isn't very good at all - I'm surprised they were "officially" released.
  21. Egad, that's volume 2 of a five-volume set? Where to start? Now THAT'S the kind of thing that Concord should box up into a package like what they're doing with the Miles Davis Quintet stuff! ←
  22. I've heard anywhere from November to next Spring. Supposedly telling the three stories seperately, without the crosscutting, and with much more stuff...
  23. I've forgotten: what is the World's current song? Maybe if you hum a few bars...
