  1. Kolchak, of course. I'm not sure if I even remember Ghost Story. One of the networks was either working on a Kolchak pilot or it's already been picked up for next year.
  2. Hawaii* *Seriously, one of the funniest things I'd ever heard was, after getting off the plane in Maui, a passenger asking if they "take U.S. money here."
  3. Brad, I've got the exact same "error" set - no disc 1. Must have been a bad batch...
  4. Yep, this one should be good. I'm still surprised that Stewart was able to dig up some of the dirt and get some of the interviews that he did...
  5. Great stories, guys - wish I could have been there with you too. I've only recently been "into" Mr. Freeman - care to some of you on this board - so I can only hope for a west coast gig one of these days.
  6. Someone at Uni finally realized they hadn't a leg to stand on. Funny, too, their claim that this mistake cost them "thousands." I never would have bought one were it not priced at $99.
  7. It's of course difficult to pin it down to just one, but if pressed I'd have to go with "In Walked Bud." It was the Monk tune that had the greatest impact on me when I was first exposed to his music 25 years ago.
  8. "Colt?" "Lachlan?" Sounds like Ebay's outsourcing.... perhaps to Narnia?
  9. That's funny, Mark. I saw Benny here in L.A. a couple of weeks ago, and one of the clinchers for me was the review that mentioned the many stories he told between tunes. It's not often you get to hear such legendary tales directly from the performer and I enjoyed every one of them. He's a great personality, and seems like a genuinely nice and classy guy.
  10. Well this was my Halloween costume last year...
  11. Perfectly legal. eMusic is the only service that offers the usage flexibility that avid music fans demand -- unlimited CD burning along with the ability to transfer music to any desktop, portable music player and digital device (including the market leading iPod) Q: Do musicians and labels get paid for the songs I download? A: Yes. eMusic is a legal downloadable music service that compensates artists and labels for their work, without sacrificing convenience or low-cost.
  12. Funny it took so long to get this guy. You'd think that Scout Merit Badge for "Serial Killing" would have given him away long ago...
  13. I'm gonna call my friend over at Uni Music and have a good chuckle over this one. Idiots! (I'm sure he'll agree, but he works in IT and so has nothing to do with this.)
  14. What I don't understand, if you truly care so little about them, why you even bothered, wasting your time, to start a thread bashing them... And for the record, they *do* give awards to "best teachers" - it's just that millions of people don't care about watching them on TV. I can't vouch for the charities or spiritual leaders... Typical RDK enterance. I love you, but you are like one of my vinyl copies of Cornbread. What I don't understand, if you truly care about them, why you even bothered, wasting your time, adding your useless input to a thread that bashes them? Hey, Foxx had Ray and I have RDK. Come up with some new shit, would you. I haven't seen the Oscars in 10 years, but I still have the personal integrity to say what I think about them. The problem I have with Eric's initial post - and, truthfully, with your "I haven't owned a TV in ten years" shtick - is the implication of elitism and superiority about it. It smacks of: TV may be for the masses but it's beneath me; or I only watch indie or foreign films, none of that Hollywoood garbage, or pop music sucks, I only listen to jazz. Perhaps I'm being overly sensitive, but I've heard each of those responses many times over the years, from many different people. Personally I don't give a fuck if anyone owns a TV or not or digs awards shows - and last night's Oscar telecast was a snooze imo - but to castigate entire cultural genres - let alone media delivery devices - seems utterly foolish to me. And I've still never quite understood the desire to start and propigate threads about things that have no appeal and interest for me... I guess to validate one's negative opinions...

  16. PMs are underappreciated methinks. There's no reason this stuff needs to be done out in the open...
  17. Welcome Mitchell! And as for that Mosaic auction:
  18. Yeah, I'd be patient - $250 is ridiculous and there doesn't appear to be any shortage of these sets out there.
  19. For those with glue residue on the discs, I found that the glue can be rubbed off if you do it carefully... I hope to get mine in a week. How or what did you use to get rid of the glue, in case mine comes with it? Well, to be honest, just the tail end of the shirt I was wearing and a bit of spit. I was at the office and didn't want to wait until I got home to use anything more, uhm, appropriate. It seems to have done the job... I guess "carefully" isn't really critical to the process. And now you've all been warned if I ever decide to sell the set here on the board...
  20. Um... Bob Dylan. You mighta heard of him... B-)
  21. For those with glue residue on the discs, I found that the glue can be rubbed off if you do it carefully...
  22. Great article - thanks for posting that. Perhaps my biggest shock was reading that Metheny's now 51. He still seems like such a "kid" to me. I've been a big fan since "As Falls Witchita..." and though there are a few PMG albums that I could do without, so many more are essential for me.
  23. The great Massey Hall concert...
  24. Jack's still a mighty cool guy. He was, in fact, the first jazzer I saw upon moving to L.A. I used to see him regularly at the Money Tree in Toluca Lake, which was great for me as they had no cover and I was fresh out of college and broke. I could nurse a single drink all night as Jack would play and regale the crowd with (often bawdy) stories. He's still playing nearby, but I haven't seen him in several years. This thread makes me want to redresss that asap.
  25. So did she apparently...
