This is fantastic. A half-hour club performance, great audio and video quality. Mostly (not entirely) Bacharach/David tunes.

Film/TV composer Gerald Fried has died at the age of 95. https://dodoandewa.com/gerald-fried-obituary-film-and-television-composer-has-died-death/ Among other things, he scored epsidodes of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Star Trek. His music for the Star Trek episodes "The Doomsday Machine" and "Amok Time" is very recognizable, as it was tracked through the series, particularly the Klingon battle music. As an exotica fan, I expecially love Fried's RCA album Orienta, credited to the Markko Polo Adventurers. The track "Rain in Rangoon," composed for the album by Vernon Duke, is stunning, and arguably one of the greatest exotica tracks ever written.

Not really, because some of her singles were written by other songwriters, and a number of Bacharach tunes were album tracks for Dionne. It would be great to gather them all in one concise location.

A British series called Unforgotten. -
You would shine a light on the strobe to be sure the record was turning at the right speed, especially important if speed differences resulted in your instrument not being in tune with the record.

Now everyone needs to listen to "Lillian Lust" from Bedazzled.

I hope Paris jazz clubs are in black and white. I can't imagine one in color.

My mom had the MMO Bacharach for the Ladies, arranged by Jack Six, for female vocalists.

Radio still has the greatest reach.

I have no idea what they drive, but I can tell you that none of the cars that we have purchased new over the past 15 years or so have been pre-installed with Sirius. I've never used it. -

Yeah, that is key. Ms. TTK has been in public media since the 1990s. She encounters younger persons who work for public media who have never owned a radio, and wouldn't know how to operate one. -
Oh, no one was criticizing the music. They were questioning Ellington's dramatic instincts, because of how the music was placed. Someone other than Ellington made the decision to change the placement of the music.

I bought Ms. TTK a Valentine's Day present on Etsy. It was shipped from Germany. The package arrived today. The item was packed in a box of Bratkartoffeln mit Speck & Zwiebeln. Fortunately, or unfortunately, there were no bratkartoffeln, speck, or zwiebeln left in the package. https://wiglo-shop.de/product/bratkartoffeln-mit-speck-zwiebeln-400g/

Ellington was apparently criticized for his score to Anatomy of a Murder, but he responded that they used his music in different scenes than he originally intended.

As someone with a lot of Latin/African/World percussion albums, this is IMO better than the Blakey drum albums, because the drums groove on this one. On the Blakey albums, Blakey plays like he is fighting against the percussionists. I was able to compile a decent Blakey percussion comp with the best tracks from across the releases. And I am really talking bout the Blue Note albums, because The Drum Suite on Columbia grooves much better. IMO, of course.

I would place it among my three favorite Bacharach tunes. Dusty does an incredible TV performance with Burt at the piano. This is just fantastic.

I thought this was about jazz pianist/educator Hans Groiner.
