  1. Listening to the Porgy and Bess disc from this foundational set
  2. Playing myself through this one. Mosaic did a nice job with the Roulette label for a while:
  3. My poor son will get to deal with it. I've drawn up some suggestions (including putting Mosaic boxes, booklets and cds back together!), but what he does will be up to him. I'll be past caring. gregmo
  4. Me too. I've actually written it down in a "last letter" for my son. And yes, it's hard being OC, but somebody has to do it! gregmo
  5. Every time I think this miserable year can't possibly get worse, it does.
  6. Like him or hate him, he was deeply devoted to the music. Well, to the music he liked anyway. And he loved Bird and Duke. RIP. gregmo
  7. The Original Master Recording version:
  8. So did I. And I see we were both playing it today as well! gregmo
  9. Nothing like some new Monk to make the miseries of the smoke dissipate from my head (if not my lungs)
  10. Definitely in for this one! gregmo
  11. Disc 7, with Kenny Dorham on trumpet
  12. Fine work by the late Gary Peacock on this one. Actually, my copy is disc two of the Rustbox.
  13. Ah, so many adolescent fantasies in my youth! Saw her live in London years ago with Rex Harrison in "Heartbreak House." A marvelous talent who will be much missed! gregmo
  14. The fee I got charged was from my credit card company, not Ebay, Paypal, or the seller. gregmo
  15. With few exceptions jazz clubs have never exactly enjoyed long lives. I would imagine that if some close, others will open. Maybe that's the optimist in me! gregmo
  16. They issued some of the greatest box sets ever. Too bad they sold to Concord before they had a chance (in my dreams) to issue a Gene Ammons Prestige box! gregmo
  17. Me too. gregmo
  18. I just saw this thread. Exactly the same thing happened to me, Bertrand, so you're NOT alone! I'm pretty sure I also labeled it a Friends and Family because it was for music lessons for a grandson, and she had asked me to do that. I switched to writing her a check! I have used Paypal for a couple of Ebay buys, but they specifically noted it was a credit card transaction without the fees, so I think they know about this. Anyway, thanks for the discussion! gregmo
  19. Oh, so will I. And I imagine I'll love it when I actually hear it! gregmo
  20. That would be a great read! Happy Birthday to the great one--and many happy returns!! gregmo
  21. Legacy did such a fine job with the Satch Columbias late in the 90s, including several alternates. I'll buy the Mosaic because, well, I buy Mosaics, but I do wonder how much that is really new and valuable will be on this one. gregmo
  22. Some very nice early Tal Farlow on this one
