  1. Disc 3, some of the best Rosolino on record:
  2. I had one of these when I lived in West Virginia. Very good for hilly lawns!!! gregmo
  3. I bet he had a Flymo! (I'd post a shot of one, but they're all too big to upload!) gregmo
  4. In the mood for a bit of Satch:
  5. The only disappointment in the otherwise splendid Tubby Hayes Complete Fontana set, a bit of commercial schlock. Hayes has a few moments, but this one was obviously included just to keep the set complete:
  6. Liked the article. Like others here, I'm always glad to see Hank get a little attention. gregmo
  7. I sure wish I had the memory of some here! I've used Music Collectorz for several years. No subscription. I just bought it at some point, and it still works fine. As for the shelves: alphabetically by artist and then each artist's stuff chronologically, like, I think, a lot of people here. Works for me. gregmo
  8. Not entirely true. It's high in oxalates that can cause kidney stones. So, it's not a part of my diet. I live alone, though my son and his family live around the block. I cook, hunker down, listen to music, watch the tube, work on projects around the house and really hope this thing comes to an end sooner rather than later. I miss going out to movies and having dinner in restos with friends. gregmo
  9. Interesting. Rushing is one of my favorite singers. I've seldom heard one who could sing with such unparalleled joy! But, to each his own! gregmo
  10. New Mobley set, Disc VI. gregmo
  11. Luckily for the hoarders, toilet paper doesn't expire, and when they die, they'll have such incredibly clean asses. gregmo
  12. The Tubby Hayes Fontana set is the gift that just keeps on giving:
  13. I have several friends in your situation, Lon. One has a mother who was just moved into a care facility, but her husband had to leave her at the door, and she is suffering from dementia. I know that in some places, depending on staffing, they have been able to set up a way for family to talk to their loved ones digitally on face-time, skype, or other platforms. As for me, my grandson had a slight fever the day after I transported him to a sax lesson. He got over it immediately, didn't cough at all and didn't touch me, but I was in the car with him. So, out of an overabundance of caution, I am largely staying in my house (or, as one of my Facebook friends put it, "exiled for the good of the realm!"). It's the uncertainty that is so unnerving. Well, that, and the criminal lack of available tests, but that gets into politics, and we don't do that on the Board. Anyway, I'm deeply sympathetic to all of those in your situation. gregmo
  14. Cool! Might have to take a look! gregmo
  15. That silly thing is available on youtube. The "jam session" scene with Tatum also includes Charlie Barnett, Ziggy Elman, both Dorseys, and Ray Bauduc, if memory serves. gregmo
  16. Ok, I'll admit I'd never heard of this one! I looked up Banks--a female impersonator? Tell us about this record, Chuck!! gregmo
  17. Speaking of Hodges, has anyone read Con Chapman's biography? Thoughts? gregmo
  18. If you watch this one in 4K with a subwoofer, prepare to be knocked out of your chair! gregmo
  19. I used to go to Tower in Portland. The store moved around a bit, but I remember at the beginning of the 90s when cds finally occupied more space than LPs. That's when I made the switch--later than many, of course. The last time I went to a Tower Records was in Kyoto Japan. They're still in business there, of course. Bless the Japanese' hearts--they still like physical media!! gregmo
  20. A lot of his pieces were collected together in an 872-page collection: Collected Works gregmo
  21. Ditto. Somewhere back in this thread I suggested seeing the very sweet Clark Terry documentary, "Keep on Keepin' On" as an antidote to the dreadful abuse in this film. And I especially agree about J. K. Simmons, who is one of my very favorite actors. gregmo
  22. Got my set yesterday and finally got to listen to the first disc today. I am LOVING that disc. Tubby reminds me of Sal Nistico (a favorite of mine) in his ability to move on fast tunes. This is all entirely new to me as I had *none* of the Fontana albums before this. Really looking forward to listening to the rest of this set! gregmo
