  1. Got the album from Chuck yesterday and am enjoying it so far. Will post more thoughts once I've had time to digest the music further. Is anyone else familiar with the track "Prelude" from Paul Motian's Dance, w/David Izenzon and Charles Brackeen? "Keep Right On Playing..." reminded me of that tune. Guy
  2. I recommend avoiding anything with deuterium or tritium. Guy
  3. I may have to check it out (though I will await Noj's comments). Thom Jurek's review of this album has a cool line:
  4. Not sure, but it is pretty good. Guy
  5. Chewy, There's a 2-albums-on-1-CD set on Fantasy -- Libra/Another Earth. Not earthshaking, but nice post-bop from the late 60s. The second album has Reggie Workman, Charles Tolliver, Stanley Cowell, Freddie Waits and (on one track) Pharoah Sanders. I guess it is somewhat underwhelming given the personnel. I assume you've heard his stuff w/Pharoah Sanders and McCoy Tyner? Guy
  6. Eva, There have been a bunch of Don Ellis threads: #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6
  7. Air's Air Time arrived today! Guy
  8. What I want to know is why no rabbi has come up with a special eruv for bacon double cheeseburgers. Guy
  9. The Van Der Graaf guy? Guy

    Chopin

Only Chopin I own, but it's good:
  11. The Oscar nominee gets should recheck his facts and figures -- (part of) the album was recorded on March 2, but it was released months later. Guy
  12. I'm curious about this one. Many said it didn't live up to its potential (the Herbie/Ron/Tony rhythm section, plus as I understand it they don't play on every cut). I've almost bought it several times, but have not yet succumbed. Very underwhelming. Another underwhelming one is Blues for Salvador. It's sometimes mentioned as his best of the post-1980 era, but is kinda average. Guy
  13. You're crazy, SS1 -- think of how many RVGs you could buy for $150-200. Guy
  14. yuck! just imagine Barry Harris on electric piano, that sweetish CTI mix all over, Cranshaw replaced by Ron Carter at his boomiest/slidiest and Cobham laying down a dry beat instead of smilin' Billie! (But then you'd have to replace Mogie with Hubbard, too, i guess...) yuck yuck yuck! Replacing Barry Harris wouldn't be a bad idea. Guy
  15. Spicy chicken sandwich -- delicious!
  16. If somebody can find a clip of George's conversation with Elaine's boss about having sex with the cleaning lady (season 3, "The Red Dot"), please post it:
  17. One of the all time greatest episodes: George doing the opposite George: "My name is George, I'm unemployed and I live with my parents." Beautiful blonde: "I'm Victoria, hi!" Art Vandelay marathon (I think this was the only good part of that Puerto Rican Day episode) I've got so much hand I'm coming out of my gloves!
  18. Not sure what you mean by this statement. Both guys have been in the league for a while, they're known quantities. Guy ... So in both situations I mean making a trade. Randolph to Chicago for their pick and/or some players would be a perfect situation for both teams. OK, that makes perfect sense! Guy
  19. Is anyone here a marine biologist?
  20. To reduce the incentive for tanking, I believe. Guy
  21. Not sure what you mean by this statement. Both guys have been in the league for a while, they're known quantities. Guy
  22. Seattle, probably not. Portland is a possibility -- there's a lot of young talent there. Somebody is going to totally overpay for Vince Carter. It's inevitable. I think Nocioni could be a nice pickup for some team. Guy
