  1. Yes, though I noticed a couple on the bed sometime after that. Did anything happen in-between?
  2. Nice! I kind of feel like I had a microdot myself after viewing it.
  3. I've got the Phillies > Rays in 5. But the last game is going to take 2 nights to play! How's that for a bold tie-breaker. (You might want to change the title of your thread by a year.)
  4. I hope Amazon sends another nickel (or threepence) to Cliff as my copy of Revolution In The Head arrived today. I haven't bought a Beatles book since the early '80s (I did get the hefty Anthology as a gift, but I consider it to be a piece of exercise equipment rather than a book), but this looks like it will be fun. I like a little vinegar in my prose (especially when dealing with rock royalty) and I'm going on a trip, so I think I'll add some early Beatles to the iPod and have a multimedia experience while flying and hanging out in airports. Hopefully I won't scare my seat neighbors too much if I burst out laughing at some of the comments made by the author. Then again, sometimes it's necessary to scare your seat mates a little.
  5. I don't know about you but I don't want a pheasant for a girlfriend! As for her not being a peasant, even back then Paul was thinking about what could happen in a divorce settlement. Better to marry someone with some money, otherwise a person could lose a leg. Sorry...couldn't resist.
  6. I don't get Bobby Cox either -- never have, never will. It's like he's asleep in the dugout, only popping up to yell and screamm at an umpire, and then get thrown out of the game. I still can't get use to the fact that Rockin' Lee Mazzilli is not sitting next to him either. Just knowing he's dead in the dugout, managing the Braves, it enough for me never to watch the Braves at all. Leo Mazzone, but you knew that. I'm trying to remember though I think they missed each other by a year or 3 with the O's, but just think if manager Lee Mazzilli had hired Leo Mazzone as his pitching coach? I doubt Dave Niehaus could have handled it when the M's played the O's. *edited to add I would hope that they would open a restaurant together given the naming possibilities.
  7. A Red Branch Hard Black Cherry cider. 500ml was a little over $6 but it sure was purdy in the glass and sure beat the hell out of a $6 bottle of wine.
  8. I love "Boys"...er, the song, yeah, yeah, the song! Especially on the Hollywood Bowl LP.
  9. Cause ur smart. I probably should have used an apostrophe as in 'cause, but I had a busy day in front of me with the garden, making gazpacho, helping a neighbor with her computer and other things so in a hurry I dropped the Be and didn't add a ' as I didn't realize this was a test. Not to sound haughty but I suspect this is just passive-aggressive "payback" on your part for me having pointed out the "magic number" problem you were having over in the baseball thread, so way to go Goody.
  10. Yeah, those creme based bottles can get mighty funky with age (hence the original poster's distinction of what he had in the fridge). My dad has a bottle of snake wine that was a gift while on a trip to China sometime in the early '80s. It's one of those things that tasted so awful when it new no one is sure if it's gone bad. I tried another little taste last May. I didn't think any damage was done, but now I think the slang part of my brain may have taken a hit.
  11. Thank you so much for the heads up on this. I just have 2 of the Columbia discs that came out after the box. (I wasn't enlightened when the box was easily available.) Now my niece can get my old discs to go with the bit of Verve she already has.
  12. A "cause" is an event due to the result of some specific thing which happens. It's not a conjunction. And you're welcome. Wow, a grammar flame! Is it 1993 and am I on alt.fan.organ-trio? It's slang you nitwit.
  13. That's one reason why I still have it all on my original vinyl. (For CD/digital listening/watching I have the post-breakup releases (BBC, How The West Was Won), DVDs and lotsa boots.)
  14. I don't think so. If the cap wasn't screwed on tight perhaps it may have picked up odors but there shouldn't be any spoilage. Cause you know, it's alcohol. As it wasn't creme-based was it stored there so as to be cold when served? (Another way alcohol ends up in the fridge when it needn't be there is during a night of drinking. )
  15. True, but if Neil Young can rerelease live shows in his Archives project I think the Grateful Dead could get away with it. Although several thousand Deadheads would complain that it should be free... And yes, definitely add the missing tunes to 100 Year Hall as it's too complicated trying to replicate the order with those extra discs on CDR.
  16. Speaking of Rhino... Not sure what this means, for the Dead or the many other fine Rhino box sets that have been put out over the years.
  17. Guilty. The bow wouldn't even have to be that special.
  18. I didn't hear 6/8/77 until a couple of years ago so it's still fairly new to me. I revisited it about a week ago and it's another fine '77. I think it might be the underrated night, kind of like the 1st night (11/09/73) in that box. Like J.H. I can't really explain it but 6/9 never grabbed like one would think it would given the setlist. Same with 6/7. It's not that I don't like the shows, I guess they played too well that year. As far as what I'd like to see remastered, I would love to see something done with the fall '72 Texas run. Some of that stuff is kind of rough so if they could polish it up that'd be great. Or some of those other fall '72 shows that just circulate as partials or rough boards. For some reason once you get into October/November '72 it seems like the boards are rougher than the ones in September. Although I haven't kept up on all of the unofficial remasters so maybe it sounds better than my copies. If they want to get 9/28/72 exactly perfect in HDCD sure, do it! There's nothing wrong with putting practically that whole month out. Waterbury without cuts would be cool. Although 4/2/73 circulates in excellent quality that 2nd set should be officially available (and really skip, the 1st set, it's not needed.) The recent June '74 Roadtrips crossed one request off my list. There are some who'd buy all of Europe '72 if they offered that up in a big box with a bow around it.
  19. Same here....and the track "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" on Abbey Road, amid their last recordings, has me convinced that had the Beatles remained together they would have continued to produce great and interesting stuff in the early 70s. Though the two bands have very different styles and sounds, I still think of Led Zep picking up where the Beatles left off. Now you have me picturing Lennon in his white Abbey Road suit with his shirt unbuttoned to his navel, howling like a banshee. OK, just substitute Yoko for John and maybe it won't be too much of a stretch... Other than the unbuttoned shirt to the navel part. Hmm, or maybe not...
  20. Or... Target is selling the remasters for $11.98 (The White Album sale price is $16.99). The sticker price will be higher, but excluding the White Album they ring up at $11.98. Buy 2 and you get a $5 gift card good for your next purchase. So buy 'em 2 at a time getting a $5 gift card each time. Just mentioning it as I doubt many people think of buying CDs at Target - I know I don't. I think this lasts until October 10th but don't hold me to it.

  22. Sounds ideal for me then, I totally dig the first five albums, though I hear that the stereo version of Help! the way to go (bought that yesterday). I'm becoming very excited about getting that mono box. I'm still waiting on the mono box (though have it in other forms) but I totally love the remastered stereo For Sale. Let me add the . The job they did on it essentially sold me picking up the mono box and I'll mosey along and pick up more stereo remasters as they go on sale or eventually clog up the used bins. And I'd hate to be with just the mono or the stereo White Album, and that goes for Magical Mystery Tour. The latter may be that the German version was my great white whale as a kid. When I finally got it then I find out the thing to get was the mono. For those who are on a budget have patience with the stereo albums that are less important to you as they will show up used once the iPod kids have dumped their Xmas gift discs after they've ripped them.
  23. M'kay. If we can still count the Marlins in, then....the Giants WC "magic number" is 4, too. How much is left in that bottle of wine you're drinking? Different divisions, different magic numbers, throw in the wild card it's another matter. For the Rockies the Wild Card magic number is 9 over the Giants, at least as of 7:42 Pacific Time.
  24. The PCs sound swell, but the new remasters? There's stuff you just can't hear on the needle drops that are plain as day on the stereo discs. And that's not the answer I want to give- the PCs are way cheaper than the mono box. If you know what I'm saying. Yup, I've been revisiting the Dr. Ebbetts and Purple Chick monos for the past week or so, and picked up a couple of stereo remasters in the meantime. Though I was comparing 2 different mixes for sound quality which isn't advised or the least bit scientific, I decided based on what I wasn't hearing on the needle drops and what I could hear on the remasters that doggone it, I'd better put in a pre-order at Amazon for the mono box. Which I did - I caved. Also see Dr. J's post from a couple of weeks ago as he has experience playing the the mono & stereo LPs. I'm keeping all the needledrop CD-Rs though, just to have more ways of playing the music.
  25. Nothing more to add other than repeat for emphasis. He's been here since the team began. It's 1995 all over again, Griffey safe at home on Edgrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr's! hit against THE YANKEES in the inaugural divisional playoff series all over again (oops, pardon the redundancy.) Btw, think he smokes?
