  1. Ooo, I've done that. Not sure if it's him or my sometime fear of flute. It's a part-time affliction cause you know, I love Dolphy on flute, and others too such as Kirk and Rivers. Length of disc doesn't matter that much if the price reflects the poundage. I've actually come to appreciate the 35 minute CD that has little to no filler over discs crammed to limit with bonus tracks that may have been better left in the vault.
  2. Wait for a better answer from one of our insiders, but as so much of his catalog is on Fantasy I'd either just head over to Concord or your favorite music shopping places for those releases. If Mosaic were to do a set I'd think the Verve material would be what would be boxed, simply because they've done other Verse sets. But I haven't a clue whether such a thing is planned.
  3. Your rundown of the Braves does look mighty grim. But if we were to have a playoffs of sucking you guys still haven't clinched the wild card yet (you're up against whoever doesn't finish last in the Central between the Pirates & Reds.) Washington & San Diego seem to have their divisions won...er, lost. The Giants right now are too good to make such a playoff. The Mariners have a good sized lead over the Royals being 6 games "ahead" for the worst record. In a series of sucking does the worst record get home field advantage? Not sure how things work in bizarro playoffs. The A's at the moment would be wild card, and the Orioles may be last in the East but are playing .474 baseball and seem far too good. Their winning % is better than 7 National League teams.
  4. Wow, that's right up there with Jim Fixx dying while jogging. I loathed the imitators, particularly the thrown together crapola of 1000 or 1001 albums to listen to before you die and the like. But that's not his fault. Nothing wrong with reminding people that there are no guarantees on how long you'll be here, so go out and live life. Btw, all the best in your career transition ejb. You carry yourself as a prof (I mean this in the best sense), though you need to work on being "absent-minded."
  5. Don't know what's come over our lot in the last few days. Lots of gold medal faves falling off bikes, not correctly passing batons etc. I think they need to use a "good grip" technology on the batons, especially given the high humidity. Then again the way the US luck has been going in relays, the baton would stay stuck in a runner's hand and not get passed rather than dropped. But hey, that's relays for ya.
  6. (Uh um.) Mariner fan here. Game over! Playing .365 baseball. In their inaugural (whew, spelling is hard) season they played at an awesome .395 pace (64 wins.) Franchise worst was the next year (56 W, .350.) At least they've cleared out Vidro & Richie. Though honestly, I know this kind of soft talk doesn't happen much around here, but they seemed like decent fellows even if they weren't playing well, so it's not like I'm overjoyed that they're gone. (Richie was a fine actor in the promo spots. ) I've never been a fan of Ibanez (mainly because of what they paid him) but truth is he's been pretty damn good, downright great since the All-Star break. Without him they'd probably be < .350. Felix has games that make you shake your head, then you realize again that he's just 22. Land sakes, this is his 4th season! (First was a partial.) Gonna have to live with the heartwarming memory of the '95 WC series for awhile me thinks. And "borrow" other teams to root for on a season-by-season basis. Turnarounds (& collapses) can happen quickly in the majors so I can still dream of something better for the M's next year.
  7. Available now: August 7, 2008 Parkwest official download link.
  8. Since color has been available only (off the top of my head): Dr. Strangelove Manhattan Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf? The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance Eraserhead
  9. I think you want to edit your link. It's the Wooden Mirror one.
  10. 2nd night at Parkwest is supposed to be available for download within a couple of weeks.
  11. Angelo Badalamenti was the composer for the series. Not to be too obvious, but check out the soundtracks (Twin Peaks, Fire Walk With Me, Blue Velvet.)
  12. Well hell, if that's what you got to do to get the good news (pause to squirm in seat)... Damn, brain tumors taken out the nose and I think gall bladders can be yoinked out the belly button if you're a supermodel and don't want a scar. Wait, maybe that's thru the nose too. And then there's your procedure! Whew, here's to less adventurous healthy "regular" checkups at the doctor!
  13. Terrific news. Congrats!
  14. On the road! By a combined score of 18-2. Piniella managing vs. his hometown & a Tampa team that he bailed on would be so wunnerfull. Uh, never mind that thing about the Cubs not being in a World Series in awhile.
  15. Wow, what a story! If the mystery gets solved please let us know. And welcome back!
  16. That is a very odd way to make web & catalog copy last longer. Perhaps it's also a hint as to when it will time out.
  17. Whatever it is it gets reissued every 3 months (at least.)
  18. Er..., it's been back for years. See South Park.
  19. Of the recent ones I'm fairly certain the Ellington Reprise and Mulligan Concert Band sets sold out rather than timed out. Perhaps this should be a separate thread.
  20. Yeah fuckin' right. 7-4 lead in the ninth and it goes: double double home run pitching change single walk homer (The rest censored as this is a family board. ) Wow!, I thought maybe they brought back Borowski. Nope, he's been offered a BoSox minor league contract though.
  21. I confused...I...I...like something Paris did. Must resist warm feelings...
  22. Maybe it's because I'm midway thru my 40s, but I've met a couple of 60 year olds in the past year that I did think were in their 40s. Happy Birthday!
  23. Way to stare it down! You should consider giving yourself either little gifts or a bigger one as time passes without giving in. You could either keep it neutral and just use what you used to spend on smokes on CDs (or whatever, though be careful about food or drink during this stage) once a week, or bank it and buy a Mosaic after set time. The more you smoked the more you can spend on the gifts for yourself!
  24. Sorry to hear you lost your guy. It's not easy when you lose the "voice" you've spent so many years with. Cubs games have never been the same since his father died. Hard to believe that Harry lived a longer life than Skip.
  25. Wishing you a grrrrreat Happy Birthday!
