  1. I love the instrumental edit used during the end credits of the film.
  2. Thanks for sharing that review Chris! I completely agree (your opinion of Moonchild is spot on as well).
  3. I think that's just too much material to try to swallow in one dose, even if you space it out for awhile. As you start to get tired of hearing similar tones etc, it probably makes you more critical of the material than you would under other circumstances, just because your mind needs a break. If I tried it I probably wouldn't be able to listen to Davis again for years. I think it's much more effective to focus on smaller periods for this type of listening, maybe a decade at once and then take a long break, something like that. I do admire your effort though, I couldn't do it. ... About the closest thing I've tried to this is making a compilation of all the recordings with Mobley & Horace Silver together...which also got tiring after awhile just because of the sameness of the material, I never made it all the way through. I still love these recordings, but they are much more effective in little bite size amounts.
  4. Oh I'm sure it's very inside and mostly a curiosity...but I dig the Basie Meets Bond record so my expectations aren't that high.
  5. Okay, now I'm interested in hearing this thing....
  6. You made it in shop with your friends? Gift from Cthulhu.
  7. I'm very sorry for your loss. My Father passed away a few years ago at the age of 59. Unfortunately we hadn't seen each other for over 10 years when it happened and that sense of "lost time" still haunts me to this day.
  8. Get well Clark! This guy is a living national treasure.
  9. Ace in the Hole was the original title. As for the remake with Dustin Hoffman, I missed that one, for which I'm grateful. Title? Mad City
  10. So did I - but birds means something different in English MG How did all these UK/American slang terms get all messed up anyway? US - Pissed = Angry UK - Pissed = Drunk I know there's more examples but I haven't had enough coffee yet to remember them.
  11. Maybe if we could get them to scramble with the same "effort" on alternative fuel/alternative public transportation strategies we might get somewhere.
  12. Okay Dan, ya got me. Where's a good place to start for a novice?
  13. The scenes between her and Stark had a really nice natural "sizzle" to them, Gwyneth can speak volumes with tiny facial expressions. I haven't seen a better example of unforced sexual tension (tendered with total respect for each other) in a long while.
  14. BUY THE DAMN THING! Hell you could almost get 2 of them for less than a gallon of gas. p.s. for what it's worth, that session wasn't really recorded that well in the first place (it's the weakest sounding in that box set), so I doubt the improvement would be earth shattering on the newer remaster.
  15. I'm pretty sure the version of Ace In The Hole I saw was titled "The Big Carnival". Which title came first? Remember that godawful remake with Dustin Hoffman? Ugh.
  16. hmmm... I pictured C cups on a greased cookie sheet...
  17. Great thread idea! The track that jumped out at me in the past couple days: Twinklin' by Mary Lou Williams w/Andy Kirk. Mary's touch is just incredible and her arrangements were (imho) ahead of their time. With that sparkling light touch of hers you can hear the inspiration she had on players like Wynton Kelly.
  18. It is Texas after all....
  19. Look for the new upcoming single: "My Cock Crows At Dawn".
  20. Ace Of Cakes
  21. Now that one defensive player will be allowed headset communication with the coordinator (same as the quarterback) it makes the whole signal stealing thing pretty much moot. I don't blame the Pats for trying to find every competitive advantage available to them, it's a sport yes, but it's also a business and sometimes you have to be cutthroat to get ahead. I'm tired of this whole business. Question: Regarding the Bills playing in Toronto. I wonder if this is a sign that the Bills might be considering relocating to a different area? I understand that they've always been one of the poorest teams.
  22. or Black Sabbath (although the Amps should be Randalls)
  23. Wish this was a picture of my living room.
  24. I've heard similar reactions from people, that they find the resolution offensive instead of feel good. I'm most likely going to skip this one entirely.
