It's interesting to hear his side of the story re: Chan. He has nothing negative to say about her.

I have a memory of seeing a Mike Gibbs band with Jack Bruce on bass in Hampstead but I found a site that lists every gig Bruce ever had and though it does show some gigs with Gibbs it doesn't show one that was in Hampstead when I was in London. I'm hoping someone here might know about it.

The Wall Street Journal's editorial was contradicted by its own reporting. Meanwhile El Paso is fine because its power company prepared for this emergency. I've also read that you can winterize wind turbines but in Texas they chose not to. I believe that it was vetted. i.e Savory recorded everything as part of his job. What's in the collection is what he thought was worth saving and he had pretty good taste.

I first learned of Hampton because of Howard Alk's 1971 film "The Murder of Fred Hampton". (Alk's own life story is pretty sad.)

"Judas and the Black Messiah" uses Kirk's "Inflated Tear" at the opening of the film and as punctuation several times in the film. (The credits suggest they use both the original recording and some re-recordings by the film's composers, one of whom is Mark Isham.) It also uses "Fleurette Africaine" from the Money Jungle Lp near the beginning of the film.

This music will not go up in value. Each year it is worth less as the fans for it die off. Eventually it will be in the public domain. (Unfortunately I will not be alive.)

The Savory Collection material with Charlie Christian and Prez (not together) as well as their Ellington holdings. They're being held up by the rapaciousness of the Benny Goodman and Ellington estates. (Both of whom will lose potential income as a result.)

Chick Corea supplied liner notes to the Legacy reissue of Captain Marvel in which he says the RTF had already formed but wasn't getting many gigs so when he heard Getz needed a band for a tour he called him and suggested the RTF members plus Tony Williams.

Arggg.... You might try just going to the place you got the first one 4 weeks (or whenever was recommended for the kind you got) and showing the proof that had the first one. That's what they're telling people to do at Dodger Stadium if they don't get a second appointment.

I think Frances was also on the cover of The Black Hawk Lps. (She was the hostess at a Hamburger Hamlet I sometimes ate at in LA.) LA Times handles it well, I think.
