If combined with the pre 1932 Universal material ( 3 CD's) that would give a almost complete 1925-1931. There would be a few loose ends left from Blue disc Gennett etc.
  2. Well I've heard a lot of them and this is about the best with Charlie Rouse.
  3. I was at the Montmartre later summer. Saw Bill Baron there but missed Dexter.
  4. I just discovered that Imagine the Sound featuring Archie Shepp, Cecil Taylor, Bill Dixon and Paul Bley is available on Amazon Prime tv. I think the way it works is that if you pay Amazon Prime it's free but otherwise costs $1.99 or something like that to rent. If you've never seen it you should.
  5. Does anyone know where (or how) one can hear it at the right speed?
  6. IIRC he was popular enough to be on the cover of Time Magazine a couple of years before Time Out was released.
  7. I knew the chronology but thought I had read that Coogan partly got the role because there was a bit of Tony Wilson in Alan Partridge. I probably should have written my usual: "IIRC (and I often don 't)... "
  8. IIRC I've read that Alan Partridge was based on the guy he plays in 24 Hour Party People.
  9. I loved 24 Hour Party people but probably because it was my introduction to Steve Coogan. Friend of mine double billed it with Control at a cinema he ran.
  10. Good one. I think Tom's been ill recently so glad to see him getting some play (though I guess it doesn't really help).
  11. Haven't given this much thought, but I think I'll suggest that my kids contact this board and see if they can find someone who will sell off the stuff and donate it to Jim to maintain the board. (Even though I often think it should be left to rot.)
  12. Anyone got this? I'm looking for the liner notes.
  13. Maybe the upcoming Pops will sell so well that they and Sony could be convinced to do a package of the post Hot 5 and 7 big band material owned by Sony. (I'm reading Ricky Riccardi's new book so I'm having pipe dreams-- though most of what he writes about is available now.)
  14. I presumed it was a boot since it wasn't on RCA.
  15. Yes it's a crock of shit-- like most things in the NY Post.
  16. So you're quoting that great scientific journal the New York Post?
  17. As Gregmo pointed out to me above: it was a single Lp so you probably have everything.
  18. No shipping notice but supposed to arrive Tuesday. According to the ad for it, I could get the Lp by Sunday. And I just discovered it's now on Spotify.
  19. Well so much for no fees on a Discovery card. I just tried to use one and was told there would be a charge. Maybe it ended with their 5% back on Paypal offer.
  20. Well we never said he was sane.
  21. That one. IIRC I bought it for 99cents somewhere. Helpful because the Ellington cut is the only Capital I didn't have.
