IIRC they were on a Columbia (or a subsidiary) of the Hawkins and Young sessions. Don't see the one I had in the photos above. I think I traded it after the Mosaic came out. (There were no other Lester Young sessions on Signature were there? )

The Signatures "led" by Welles are in one of the Mosaic Basie/Young sets.

On Episode 6 of Watchmen there is a sequence that takes place in a club in an alternate history/universe 1938. On the wall there is a poster with a picture of a saxophone player and the name "Lester LeJeune". This may be the most subtle visual jazz joke I've ever seen. BTW the episode has a couple of nice Ink Spot cuts on the soundtrack.

I think it was produced in 1969 so she would have been 23 or so.

To confuse the issue even more: whenever I noticed references to Helen Morgan I thought of the torch singer from the '30s.

I find the opposite. As I get older 5 years goes by in a flash. To crib from Douglas Adams: "Everything is recent since The Beatles Broke Up."
