  11. BIG EARS 2021 While we had great hopes for the return of Big Ears in March of 2021, it has become clear that this will not be possible; however, we remain quite positive about the prospects of presenting Big Ears later in 2021. We have been actively exploring scenarios and making plans for the past couple of months. We intend to start sharing our ideas soon after the election. These have been difficult and trying times — requiring flexibility, creativity, and lots of patience — but we’re committed to creating another unforgettable festival experience as soon at it is safe and feasible to do so.
  12. The Greatest Jazz Concert in the World (Pablo)
  13. Dizzy Gillespie Live, With Mitchell-Ruff Duo (Book of the Month Club)
  14. Earl Hines Plays Duke Ellington (Book of the Month Club). Preposterously, this four LP set is formatted for stacking and flipping--side 1 backed by side 8, side 2 by side 7, etc. I'm imagining all the Earl Hines fans out there with their compact stereos stacking their records to listen to 4 or 8 sides in a row... On second thought, not a bad idea in the face of such piano magnificence.
  15. George Freeman, 90 Going on Amazing (Blujazz)
  16. That band is great. Thanks to Analog Africa/Soundway/Strut for rescuing their music from obscurity.
  17. Zenith Presents Jazz Set (Columbia)
  18. Best 1970s cut bin score for me: NY USA pressing of Big John Patton, Got A Good Thing Goin'.

  20. I would love to see Yazz Ahmed.
  21. Yes; I never even heard of Gleam back in the day until I read about it here. It was basically unavailable until Wounded Bird reissued it.
  22. I heard some guy was going to write a book about jazz. It is going to be terrible.
  23. Keep Your Soul Together/High Energy/Gleam-a superb run of consecutive albums.
