  1. I would give the label a try, but I couldn't find any CDs on Amazon UK or France, only some downloads on the French amazon.
  2. Cedar Walton Trio, Quartet and Quintet, Cedar (Prestige), and Sonny Terry, Sonny is King (Prestige)
  3. I'm mailing a contribution today.
  4. Have a happy birthday.
  5. Ornette Coleman, Town Hall 1962 (ESP-Disk)
  6. Eric Dolphy, Last Date (Limelight)
  7. My 7 preferences would be Jazz Standard, VV, Smalls, Cornelia Street Cafe, Kitano, 55 Bar, and Jazz Gallery.
  8. About the only Larry Coryell vocal that doesn't send me heading for cover is the first song on Fairyland; it's not that the vocal is any good, it's just the band is so good.
  9. Sonny Rollins--Freedom Suite (Riverside, Japanese Victor), and Thelonious Monk in Italy (Riverside).
  10. The Cannonball Adderley Quntet in San Francisco (Riverside mono), Milt Jackson and Wes Montgomery, Bags and Wes (Riverside mono), and Ornette Coleman, New York is Now (Blue Note, dark blue label).
  11. Whatever you call him, he's way better than Branford.
  12. Stereo Impulses usually sound better than mono ones. I don't know, I think with a little patience you could get a very nice copy off of ebay for alot less, particularly if you buy a red/black pressing (I can't hear any difference).
  13. It was quite good, but I seem to have more technical problems with their new YouTube based broadcast. After an excellent first set, the second Ari Hoenig set kept cutting out on me until I gave up. And I was having similar problems with the Eric Revis group with Darius Jones last night.
  14. The original first/second pressings on impulse sound great. Why not get one of those instead?
  15. Joe Diorio--Solo Guitar http://www.amazon.com/Solo-Guitar-Joe-Diorio/dp/B000FMH8GW/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1378352197&sr=1-3&keywords=Joe+Diorio++solo
  16. I heard the tail end of the Peter Bernstein solo performance, that was pretty nice. Now, Ari Hoenig returns to Monday night, with Tivon Penicott on tenor, and Shai Maestro on piano.
  17. Ole Coltrane (Atlantic mono)
  18. Buddy Guy at the Bedford Blues Festival. Feels LIke Rain never sounded better than when played during an actual light rain, cooling off the brutal heat.
  19. Ornette Coleman, Ornette! (Atlantic mono). An insert card says you get a free copy of Ornette! with your subscription to downbeat.
  20. These are in Today's Sunday New York Times Magazine.
  21. Jackie McLean, Jackie's Bag (Blue Note, King pressing)
  22. Coltrane Plays the Blues (Atlantic mono)
  23. Your timing is a bit off: http://www.bluenote.net/newyork/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=11424 (Kenny G at the Blue Note, October 17-20).
  24. I think the most comprehensive single source is New York City Jazz Record. But it's published on a monthly basis, so you are a little early. http://nycjazzrecord.com This site collects links to most of the club websites. http://bigapplejazz.com
