  7. And Gene Bertoncini, aged 76, sounded beautiful last night. I didn't hear that, as the last two nights I have been having connection problems--I'm not sure if it is the broadcast or on my end.
  8. Yes, while not a perfect recording, the detail of his guitar playing is captured more clearly here than on the studio recordings. Bass and drums are sufficiently audible and balanced with the guitar, and the vocals are mostly clearly captured.

  10. This arrived today and I'm listening now, Magic Sam at the Avant Garde June 22, 1968--Newly released on Delmark. With Big Mojo Elem on bass and Bob Richey on drums. It's by a wide margin the best quality live Magic Sam recording released to date. Recorded by Jim Charne, 18 at the time. Thank you very much--it sounds great.

  21. i'm really looking forward to that lush instrumentation. someone tore up the smalls house bass a few days ago in an afterhours thing. Those two sets were fabulous. EVEN BETTER THAN THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I immediately ordered the new Diego Urcola CD.
