  1. Just wondering, how many "Newburys" are there? I'm just curious, are the folks at Newbury appreciative (or even cognizent) of the business generated by the Organissimo board? I guess they wouldn't have any way of knowing this, but they should. If you do happen to visit them, please thank them (on behalf, I would expect, of many on this board) for their prompt service and excellent selection. I, for one, have been very satisfied with their service (better than our old favorite Caiman, IMHO).
  2. Seven "fucks" in one post! Fucking impressive!
  3. I've been jonesin' for this for awhile (though I have many of these on CD already) and when I read your post I decided to go for it. Thanks a lot, Matthew........ Interesting price variation among the various sources: Amazon (used, independent seller): $199.00 (yeah, right!!!) CDUniverse: $121.65 Overstock: $95.21 Needless to say I went for the latter, seemed like a good deal, especially not knowing if this box is going to disappear soon. (Interesting, I also got the Evans Verve "Tetanus" box from Overstock some time ago....) I'm sure someone else found it for 50 bucks or something, though......
  4. Sorry to go all "Aggie87" on you BM, but there is an existing thread on this topic......
  5. "A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants."
  6. Happy Birthday Lon! Best wishes and hopes for brighter days ahead.
  7. I thought that sounded familiar......
  8. Very well said, Mark.
  9. Years ago I was living in a condo with paper thin walls. I thought the dude next door was playing a trombone but it turned out to be gas.
  10. Contrary to others here, I tend to buy cheap sunglasses because I'm always losing/breaking them.
  11. I'm curious about the coffee maker deal... I've been using a free coffee maker for years. What should I look for in a coffee maker? I don't need the bells and whistles. When its time to make coffee, I can walk down the steps and grind it, measure it and press the button (although I have always had a timer, it is nice sometimes). I have a permanent filter that I wash and reuse. Is there really an upgrade, or is it all looks? Thanks. I don't have a high-tech coffee maker, but I do like the ones with an insulated carafe (I have a Braun) which keeps the coffee hot for several hours w/o the bitter taste that the always-on heating element creates. I don't have any need for the high-end designer stuff. I also have a french press and a Bialetti stovetop espresso maker that I use from time to time, both are inexpensive items. More importantly, I bought a burr-type coffee grinder (as opposed to the blade type) and I've noticed a real difference (for the better) in the flavor.
  12. Just got these from d'bastids. Looking forward to a listen today.
  13. Well, I finally unpacked this bad boy and tried it out for the first time. Ground up a couple chuck steaks. I'd have to say that the resulting burgers were OUTSTANDING! I was amazed at the difference between the freshly ground meat and the store-bought version. It was definitely worth the extra effort. At some point I'm going to attempt some homemade brats/sausage.
  14. Well, I certainly don't skimp on buying recordings, although I have become much more patient and will now often wait until a better price surfaces (unless I have to have it RIGHT NOW! ). I've also become a bit more selective and try to avoid extreme impulse buying, and the need to have "everything" by certain artists. This is quite difficult to do when hanging around this place! I also try not to skimp on: Coffee (including coffee maker and grinder) Shoes Bed (a good mattress is essential) Some foods (I try to buy organic when possible, especially meat) Scotch & Tequila (quality is worth the extra $$ ) Parentheses (just like Rooster Tom)
  15. I believe that it was also called "Hope So Eric" on at least one of the recordings. There's also "Praying with Eric"- is that the same tune? I don't have that recording. It seems the full title (or at least one of the many) was "So Long Eric (Don't Stay Over There Too Long)". Really enjoying the Cornell concert, BTW.
  16. Rod Levitt Hank Levy Jon Von Ohlen
  17. Yes, the fromunda cheese is rampant.
  18. Oh yes Conn, it's been positively FRIGID here.
  19. Feel free to stop by. I'll whip up some palmetto stir-fry.
  20. Oops, I thought this thread was about Tim Donaghy.
  21. The daily late-afternoon thunderstorm thing has made it a little tricky to know whether or not to fire up the grill. It got "down" to 88 the other day and it felt like 70. Humidity is my new best friend. Apparently.
  22. Well, it's all done. All is well in Tallahassee, hot and humid as expected. Last Friday when the movers arrived it was a record 102 degrees. I think I lost about ten pounds over the last week or so, which is fine w/me. Nothing got damaged and all the CDs are unpacked and in their new home. Finally got internet and cable today- I had to resort to the rabbit ears for the weekend and could only get CBS. Wow, CBS really sucks! I'm thankful the moving process and travel went without any problems. It may be hot here, but I'm very thankful for my new job and life. Yet another chapter begins, one that was unexpected. It's nice to be back online, that's for sure.
