I like the version of Stardust that Mulligan and Desmond play on Two of a Mind. They don't ever really play the melody, but they allude to it and play some great interweaving lines. I'm sure you'll have many options for great versions of Stardust. Who was it that did a version of it that used only the verse? Brookmeyer's arrangement of Skylark is a classic. And who can do Georgia better than brother Ray?

I'm envious Weiz! I was in the car earlier this afternoon and turned on the local jazz station in the middle on this tune. I immediately suspected it was this side, because my first impression was that it sounded like a Trane/Elvin event, except it was pretty quickly evident that it wasn't Trane or Elvin because: 1) it wasn't Trane or Elvin 2) modern sounding recording 3) harmonic vocabulary related to more current trends, especially from Joey Calderazzo. All that said though, it's an excellent cut and is tempting me to pick up this side. I'm hoping it shows up at yourmusic. Tain is playing really well these days. I've enjoyed both of his leader recordings (Citizen Tain and Bar Talk) as well as his various other appearances. He's playin' his ass off. Speaking of Branford, I'd put him on a short list of players who deal with the idiosyncrasies* of the soprano sax very well. *had to look up how to spell that one

OK, here's a simple little topic that doesn't require any marital advice from you Internet losers. I just made up a quick compilation of several versions of Night in Tunisia for a student. Included were: Bird & Diz (Massey Hall version) Lee Morgan/Pepper Adams et al (The Cooker) Sonny Rollins (Night at the Vanguard version) Clifford Brown (Beginning and the End version) Jimmy Smith (Crazy Baby) OK, so what else should I have included? I'm sure I overlooked some.

All this beer talk makes me have to trinkle.......I mean tinkle.
