Homemade covers for LP's that MIGHT've been on BN
Jim Dye replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Excellent, couw!!!!! -
Well said, Paul. Mosaics are such a two-edged sword. It's a great thing that so much amazing music is made available again. On the other hand, they really nurture the nasty anal fanboy gene in all of us.

Thanks for bringing back this thread! I forgot how cool some of these covers are. I still love my Brilliant Circles effort. -
Reminds me of an old Peanuts comic... Lucy: 'Spring is coming!' Linus: 'He is?' Lucy: 'Not 'he is', IT is.' Linus: 'It is what?' Lucy: 'It is coming' Linus: 'What is coming?' Lucy: 'SPRING IS COMING' Linus: 'He is?

What does everyone do for a living?
Jim Dye replied to TheMusicalMarine's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Hey, I'll be the first one in line! I'd love to be able to take a train to work. I get tired of the 40 mile schlep every day. One of the things I loved most about living in NYC was the public transportation. -

Back in the Summer of 1997 and for a bit in 2000, I worked for a woman in New York City (Battery Park City) who handled the US marketing and promotion for the swiss label TCB. She also managed (and still manages) several jazz musicians, including Teri Thornton (RIP), Howard Johnson, Lynne Arrriale and Jerome Richardson (RIP). It was an awesome gig. I almost moved to NYC in 2000, but things didn't pan out. It was a blast! -

interesting/significant "expanded" CD reissues????
Jim Dye replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Another one I picked up today. This is one of the better pop records of the last 10-15 years. Such a shame that Buckley won't be around to make any more music. He had a lot to say. 2 discs, plus 1 DVD. -

I have the Gaye - What's Goin' On Deluxe Edition and it's amazing. The 'Detroit Mix' is absolutely mind blowing. Another Motown release has caught my eye... Where Did Our Love Go (40th Anniversary Edition) It's a 2 disc set with both the Mono and Stereo versions of the album, 19 bonus tracks from the sessions, AND a live concert to boot! $40 bucks, but it looks great. Another Motown release coming soon from Hip-o-select is this: It's outside the scope of this thread, but OH BOY!! -
It looked like her original avatar was a full size image that was shrunk down, so I opened it to see if if my suspicions were correct. They were. Being a veteran of many of these types of threads (softsong, musicboy, etc...), and knowing that they usually end up disappearing, I decided to save the picture to my hard drive for posterity. Sure enough, the thread and the terri account was deleted. You can set your clock by the drama that happens on these boards, you know... P.S. I even saved the image when the server was hacked a long while back! P.P.S. I think we're all being taken for a ride here. I'm convinced the whole thing was a joke.

Lack of jazz on the North and South East US dial?
Jim Dye replied to Robert J's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
You should have driven down I-65 through Indy to Nashville, then taken I-24 south through Tennessee. You could have tuned in to 89.5 WMOT in Murfreesboro. You can hear it pretty much the whole way as you travel through the mid-state. -
Oh yeah...here is the back. Are these short edits from the album Pre-Bird?

Someone just posted this 7" EP on the usenet. I've never seen this series before. Kinda cool, eh?
