  5. Heard him live on several occasions notably when he led his quintet with Gato Barbieri, Karl Berger, Jean-François Jenny-Clark and Aldo Romano at the Chat Qui Pêche in the mid 60s. Outstanding music and players. Spent very pleasant evenings there!

  7. What struck me was - with rare exceptions - the constant high quality preservation of those albums. The majority of albums I purchased new look about the same but many of the secondhand LPs I have are in the nearmint to bad range with too many in the lower category.

    That session is unfortunately missing from the Charlie Singleton CD that came out on the usually complete series from the Blues & Rhythm label Interesting CD that includes the first appearance (on baritone sax) on record by Jackie McLean. Lou Donaldson, Lucky Thompson, Herbie Nichols and others also show up briefly...
