  1. Shelly Manne 'More Swinging Sounds' (Contemporary, mono) My first ever Contemporary album! That's me on the cover after listening to the glorious sound as recorded by Roy DuNann
  2. The most reliable discography for the April 10, 1953 session is the one from Noal Cohen and Michael Fitzgerald. It does not list any CD release for that OJC115 album. Neither does the Mobley Discography from Claude Schlouch!
  3. Hank Mobley in Paris in April 1969. Photo by Jacques Bisceglia !
  4. Still waiting for an answer to a recent request!
  5. Chet Baker in Paris (Barclay), discs 5 & 6
  6. René Urtreger 'Joue Bud Powell' (Barclay, ParisJazzCorner reissue)
  7. If I remember right, Barney Kessel wanted to stay on the West Coast instead of traveling all the time which was the case with Oscar Peterson. Barney Kessel is very, very high on my best guitarists list but I must say the trio with Herb Ellis is my favorite OP unit!
  8. Many thanks for the link Great opportunity to listen to early Dickerson! Full details on the broadcast open the Discography thanks to Michael Fitzgerald.
  9. Louis Armstrong ''Intégrale, vol. 5, 'Tight Like This' 1928-1931'' (Frémeaux & Associés)
  10. He had just signed with Concord and had started recording a couple of albums for the label. Now spinning: Albert Ayler 'Swing Low, Sweet Spiritual' (Osmosis)
  11. Happy Birthday Barak Have a great(and peaceful) day

    July 6, 1971

It's been 40 years since Louis Armstrong passed away! He has been missing ever since Obituary in the New York Times edition July 7, 1971.

    Tom Archia

The Tom Archia CD from the Classics Blues & Rhythm Series is highly recommended. Better get it while copies are still available. This wont last long now that the label has gone under.
  14. John Coltrane 'Live Trane' (Pablo), discs 1 and 2
  15. Got myself a second copy of the 1979 first edition of Art and Laurie Pepper's 'Straight Life'. €9,50 was the price. Was going to ignore it because it did not look as good as my copy but when I checked the publication date I discovered the book's opening page bore Art Pepper's signature. It's getting a feature position on my bookshelf!
  16. Elmo Hope 'Hope Meets Foster' (Prestige/Victor Japan)
  17. Lionel Hampton Complete Victor Sessions, discs 2 and 3
  18. Bobby Hutcherson 'Dialogue' (BN, mono)
