  1. Interesting article in the Sunday edition of The New York Times
  2. Dinah Washington Complete on Mercury, Volume 4 '1954-1956' (Mercury Japan)
  3. Did not realize that this session (with Jerry Hurwitz/Lloyd) was not reissued as part of the Vogue/BMG Digipak series. Glad I kept its 'Cohn's Delight' appearance. That one: Pretty hard to find these days! mjzee asked: How's the sound on the Vogue digipaks? Pretty good! And better than the sound from the non-Japanese reissues.
  4. Andrew Cyrille Jeanne Lee Jimmy Lyons Nuba (BlackSaint)
  5. That one: I aso have a couple of Boris Rose recordings of the Tadd Dameron ensembles at Royal Roost. One came out on a Ult-Tadd label, the other on a Sneaker Records label. Wish I too had been invited to have a look at that Boris Rose place
  6. Boris Rose Lives A look inside his collection... From The Wall Street Journal today.

  12. Great to catch a glimpse from that concert (at Salle Pleyel) which I attended! Thanks for posting it! The video has been recently added, it was not available when I did a search for the Lost Quintet clips a couple of months ago!

    Monk

Trailers for 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses 1960'... Trailer 1 Trailer 2 Some Monk (with Charlie Rouse) can be heard in the background on both trailers. Kenny Dorham and Kenny Clarke can be seen briefly in the party scene in the first trailer (it's Lee Morgan and Art Blakey actually playing!). It's Boris Vian playing opposite Jeanne Moreau in the second trailer.
  14. Not just my imagination. The cover photo dates from the 50s/60s. I remember those times well. No man would have been caught with a headscarf like that back then
  15. Tommy Flanagan & Kenny Barron 'Together' (Denon)

    Monk

Yes, saw it as soon as it came out and, even if I did not expect much, was pretty disappointed by the film. But not by the music! Still catching the film when it is being shown on the TV film channels here, mainly to enjoy the Monk music! And also to watch Gérard Philipe and Jeanne Moreau. Also the film is a rare opportunity to enjoy Boris Vian's nonchalant acting!

    Monk

An earlier thread on the film music. Unfortunately, Marcel Romano passed away in 2007. The Monk music has yet to be released.
  19. 271 previously unknown works by Picasso surfaced after being kept for decades in a Riviera garage! From CNN Picasso's son Claude described the collection as of "historic importance". He insists however that the works must have been stolen. This has yet to be proven!
