  1. Wish I could... Many thanks for the report. Consider yourself very lucky to be able to attend these gatherings! Will be waiting to read further reports.
  2. Chuck Wayne 'Traveling' (Progressive)
  3. Sure, that would be terrific. Let me know. Merci beaucoup! Several Vogue/BMG CDs turned up recently but not 'Tilt'. I still have that album in mind and will grab it for you as soon as it shows up!
  4. Fact is that Jimmy Woode was with the Duke Ellington band at the time. W.E. Timner's 'Ellingtonia' lists Woode playing with Ellington as of January 1, 1955 and includes Ellington dates with Woode in Burlington, Ontario, in February 1955.
  5. 'The Party" is a masterpiece. Worthy of Buster Keaton's best films. Also have very strong feelings for the qualities of 'Days of Wine and Roses'. Thank you, Blake Edwards!
  6. See post #193 After mocking King Ubu for missing one of my post in the 'Ella in Hollywood' tread, I find myself in the same position for missing an earlier post here. I'll join Ubu in the Organissimo penitents corner
  7. Coleman Hawkins 'Soul'(Swingville, purple label) with Kenn Burrell and Ray Bryant
  8. That's because you failed to read my post (nr 33)! Shame on you
  9. The Ellington box is already on backorder! Good for Mosaic
  10. 'Sounds of Swing' was a California-based label that specialized in reissuing material from dance and jazz bands. They had LPs from Bob Crosby, Red Norvo, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa, Roy Eldridge among others in their catalogue.
  11. Add Mimi's great grandson to the names of jewish musicians... ...from the excellent 'Jazz Lives' blog: So who knew?
  12. Sal Nistico 'Neo/Nistico' (Beehive)
  13. Sorry folks! but the set I bought is not the original version (which had several post-production problems)! The one I got has this closeup image of Ella, not the waistup image from the original release: It has the liner notes and the 4 Cds from the original release but in a 7.5 inches format! That new release does not seem to show up on the internet yet. All the 4CDset images only show the original one!
  14. It has tracks by the Gerald Wilson Orchestra of 1945 thru 1947. More material from the orchestra was included in these two Chronological Classics:
  15. I purchased a very reasonably priced copy of the full 4CD set with this cover (except it does not say 'The Best of Twelve Nights): It is a 7.5 inches thick cover set. A Limited Edition Verve/Hip-O-Select release.
  16. Take a guess. Knew the answer... Thought my remark was enough in jest! Next time, I'll add a stronger emoticon
  17. Interesting comment made by controversial Spanish doctor Eufemiano Fuentes about Spain's win in WC2010 Velonation story “If I said what I know, goodbye to the World Cup and European Championship,” he is reported to have told his cellmate, a youth from the area who is frequently in and out of jail. Waiting for reactions from Spain now...
  18. Red Garland 'Red's Good Groove' (Riverside Japan) Odd that Victor Japan released this Jazzland session with Riverside labels even if the front and back cover used the original Jazzland logos!
  19. Waiting to hear reports on what the sound on that box is like...
  20. Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday
