  1. 1925-1940 Columbia was on 15 2 LP sets. Not complete but still... When did that come out? I snapped up the RCA black and white twofers in the mid-80s but don't recall ever seeing theose. Perhaps they didn't appear in Britain or had been discontinued by then. Getting imports involved a lot more work in those days. Those LPs were released by CBS France in the 1970s. Don't think there was that much missing from the French CBS double LP series. The full 15 volumes gathered 471 sides (big band, small units, et al). Only problem was that the engineers could not do much to ameliorate the original sound of the releases. Hope Mosaic will be doing its usual best to give us these marvels in good sound! The RCA Centenial box worked out of better sounding material!

  4. The same company (Solar) is also releasing a previously unissued concert by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers on a double CD. With Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons ad Jymie Merrit. A December 1958 concert in Zurich. Live in Zurich 1958!
  5. Amazing! Will explore all these Voices whenever possible. Started reading the Voice in the '60s and subscribed to it for a couple of decades! Thanks for the link!

  7. I was going to stay out of that BT but Michael Weiss kindly sent it my way. Had planned to sit on it until next weekend but curiosity pushed me to give it a listen last night. A quick one. 2 Jimmie Lunceford (my Masters of Jazz Lunceford series is stored in the cellar for the time being and I cannot check on this title right away!) 4 Lucky Thompson 'Why Do I Love You?' from the Jerome Kern album. Love it! 8 Sun Ra (no idea from which album) 13 Griff and Steve Grossman, final track (Taurus People) from their Dreyfus album (that's Michael Weiss on piano!) I should be able to identify 3, excellent! I would love to listen to more of tracks 7 and 10
