  1. The Complete Atlantic Shorty Rogers, LP 3
  2. Eddie Costa 'The House of Blue Lights' (Dot/Japan MCA, stereo)
  3. Don't think your opinion would be shared by many! The Bogart/Bacall version is one of the greatest movies ever made. The Mitchum version is not bad but not a patch on the original (including the acting). Agree the Bogart/Bacall version is better but its script does not make much sense. A priceless movie in any case!
  4. After completing their Django Reinhardt Intégrale and on their way to add new volumes to their Louis Armstrong Intégrale, Frémeaux & Associés have just started releasing an Intégrale Charlie Parker. Volume 1 is out. But this time, it is not a Complete series. Missing wll be the private recordings because of their sound. Intégrale Charlie Parker Too bad because a lot of Bird's best is on low-fi recordings.
  5. Seconded. Also 'River of No Return' (with Marilyn Monroe) and 'Yakuza'...
  6. Coleman Hawkins 'The Hawk Relaxes' (Moodsville, mono, green label) with Ronnell Bright, Kenny Burrell, Ron Carter and Andrew Cyrille
  7. The mono original is the one LP to get
  8. My feelings too...
  9. I am using paypal on a rather regular basis and have not encountered any problems ever. Great service!
  10. Some of the photos I took during the Ayler recording session of 'Spirits Rejoice' have now been posted on the Ayler.org website http://www.ayler.org/html/judsonhall.html
  11. As fae as I remember, this was the first run
  12. I'm just fine... and back from a one-month stay in beautiful southern France. Summer is over and it was time to return home. I drove yesterday all the way back and enjoyed the ride except for the traffic jam that was waiting for drivers entering Paris because of the damned annual Disco Parade!
  13. Happy 2010 Birthday to kh1958
  14. Gil Evans 'Svengali' (Atlantic, stereo)
  15. George Adams could really play... with the Gil Evans Orchestra at the 1976 Warsaw Jazz Jamboree. That's Sue Evans on drums. Don't think she were related to Gil Evans!
  16. Yohann Gourcuff's debut with Lyon will be a very personal experience since Lyon competes against Lorient. Lorient's coach is Christian Gourcuff, Yohann's father!
  17. More recent news from Giuseppi(e) Logan Giuseppi Logan returns to East Village
  18. Art Farmer 'Portrait' (Contemporary, mono)
  19. Niko! Many thanks for pointing us to that Al Porcino site. Lots of very interesting photos there. Wish a Will Savory recorded that Georgie Auld band Georgie Auld Band, Gerry Mulligan, Earl Swodie (most probably Swope!), Kenny Dorham, Apollo Theatre, N.Y., 1950 Was not even aware that there was a Georgie Auld band like that!
  20. Beyond priceless, indeed!
  21. Teddy Wilson and his trio 'Mr. Wilson and Mr. Gershwin' (Columbia, six-eye mono) with Arvell Shaw and Bert Dahlander
  22. And now fresh news from Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios'. It's still open for business: from The New York Times.
  23. Benny Harris was still with Bird at the start of 1952 and appears on the January 28 recording session that gave us 'La Cucaracha' and 'Begin the Beguine' and other tunes. The Vail book mentions several visits by the Bird-Benny Harris quintet through 1951. But as good as Vail's 'Bird Diary' is, it is not complete!
  24. I didn't... but I saw a photo of Benny Harris with Bird! This Collection looks like a treasure which I hope we will be able to get a close look at very soon!
