  10. France had trouble getting ahead of Romania in a Euro 2012 qualifying match and it took a couple of substitutions to make the team win 2-0 last night. Good goals by Remy and Gourcuff who both entered the field in the final 20 minutes. Good to see Gourcuff score one more for Les Bleus!

  12. Coming out this week in Japan is a local remake of Louis Malle's classic movie filmed in 1958 in and around Paris Ascenseur Pour l'Echafaud'Lift to the Scaffold'. No Miles Davis music this time. No Maurice Ronet. No Jeanne Moreau. The trailer The remake Shikeidai no erebêtâ was directed by Akira Ogata.

  23. That track 2 is Lunceford's 'Belgium's Stomp'. Written in anticipation of the band's scheduled tour of Belgium, France (and other places?) in October 1939. Hitler's invasion of these countries put an end to the visit! Gerald Wilson takes the first trumpet solo, Paul Webster, the second one!
