  1. Sonny Sharrock's hometown (Ossining, NYK) will honor the guitarist at a ceremony tomorrow. Sonny Sharrock Way
  2. Contador refutes the charges at his press conference. As Claude noted earlier today, he also pointed that the 'infinitely small amount of the substance found in his urine sample,... could not have in any case had an effect on his performance'.
  3. Hank Jones 'Gigi' (Golden Crest, mono) with Barry Galbraith, Arnold Fishkin and Don Lamond
  4. The last survivor of the Some Like It Hot epic! Tony Curtis was excellent in The Sweet Smell of Success and The Vikings among several other films!
  5. Liked Penn's early films (including The Left-Handed Gun and The Miracle Worker). Most of his films after Bonnie and Clyde left me somehow disappointed!
  6. I liked his contribution to Joseph Losey's 'Secret Ceremony. The film may not be to everyone's taste but Mitchum was quite impressive in that one. I'm a huge Losey fan!
  7. Contador will have a lot of explaining to do at his press conference later today. Good roundup story by Juliet Macur in The New York Times today Contador

  12. Auxerre was not really a match to a not-very-good Real Madrid in their Champions League match in Auxerre last night. Real won 1-0.
  13. Joe Turner with Pee Wee Crayton and Sonny Stitt ' Everyday I Have the Blues' (Pablo)
  14. An excellent double CD anthology from Frémeaux & Associés Details
  15. I have the Djangos and the Pops series from Frémeaux. Marvelous job! But I'll pass the Bird series. An Intégrale is an Intégrale. If too much of the music is missing it's not an Intégrale
  16. One more recommendation for Amazon.fr. They really are excellent
  17. Frémeaux & Associés is a successfull label that specializes in reissuing material from various fields (music, French songs, philosophy, jazz, litterature ...). Their catalogue is quite impressive and includes works by Albert Camus, Louis Armstrong, Jean-Paul Sartre, Charles Trenet and others!
  18. Obituary in The New York Times today.
  19. Wow! Hope they will also release a photo of my favorite GI, our man Prez!
  20. May I suggest...
