The fact that the Norfolk gig was not The Last Concert is old news. May 1955 was when this was recorded. The Norfolk Continental restaurant gig of June 18, 1956 is now considered Clifford Brown's final recorded appearance. It was released by RLR on a double CD:

Names, brownie, I want to know the names of the players who are working so hard... The most prominent player named so far is Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery. His lawyer has confirmed Ribery has been heard as a witness in the prostitution case. He has not been charged. Lyon's Sidney Govou has also been heard as a witness. No charge. The two other names mentioned are Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and Marseille's Hatem Ben Arfa who will be heard in the case in the next few days.

Whitney Houston had to take a ferry from UK to Ireland to give a series of concerts this weekend.

Millie Vernon was also featured in the series of ten albums by women singers released by CBS/Sony Japan in the '80s. 'Over the Rainbow', a very pleasant album recorded in November 1986 where she was backed by Seldon Powell, Kenny Barron, Santi DeBriano and Freddie Waits!

Both takes of 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' are included on volume 6 of the Intégrale Louis Armstrong from Frémeaux & Associés The booklet includes an image of the label of the original 78rpm disc on Columbia 2600.

Shirley Horn's album 'All of Me' (with Frank Wess, Charles Ables and Steve Williams) was recorded in September 1986, a few months before she started recording for Verve.

Verve Records?!? Not aware she was connected with Verve Records... The 'Route 66' album was recorded on December 16 and 17, 1986 in New York.

Always good to see this once more. This was videotaped in Dusselforf, Germany, on March 28, 1960 during the European tour of the Miles Davis quintet. Miles failed to appear for the show that day! It's great to see how the musicians dressed up for their concerts in those days

I understand the whole series was reissued on CD by CBS Japan. Will try to send details about the whole series later...

That 1966 session never got a proper treatment from Blue Note. Probably because McLean went over bop paths and ventured into freer territory. The cover of the twofer 'Jacknife' which marked its belated initial appearance in 1975 indicated it was a quintet session. The liner notes (by Ira Gitler) corrected this. It reappeared only on the Mosaic McLean box. There definitely should be a further reissue of this album! It's time!
