  1. ... and 'Grease' did not make it to the list so far!
  2. I have quite a number of Prestige 50th albums, never ran into a flat-edge version. Will check further on the ones I possess and may report back.
  3. Porcy, I was under the impression that 'Vanity Fair' was culture to the American masses! If the film soundtracks list reflects fairly on their vanity, then I'll skip even the occasional glances at their issues
  4. The Columbia (and Prestige) Ray Bryant leader's sessions always appealed to me more than the Argo/Cadet dates. If Cuscuna is no fan of this type of music, then I'll rely on the Spanish/Andorrans
  5. This looks like a good example of the current state of culture in US magazines... From Reuters today
  6. Damn right! Might be a good idea for Mosaic to release a Ray Bryant Select with his Columbia trio and small group sessions... ... unless the wise guys from Spain/Andorra are already working on that! Very enjoyable stuff on those Columbia Bryants!
  7. Same on this side of the Channel
  8. The 1956 Trésors du Jazz box is out! So is this new one (Saxophone Jazz):
  9. The original Columbia album...
  10. I have never had problems with mailed vinyl, the majority of which were not as thoroughly secured as yours! You should be OK
  11. The real one! Welcome aboard...
  12. Concord is reusing the 1990 Phil Delance mastering for their Tatum series reissues.
  13. Herbie Hancock 'Takin' Off' (BN, mono, NY label) cover carries black sticker that reads 'contains the hit single WATERMELON MAN'
  14. A friend of mine had one and had some fun with it on the streets of Paris! I even rode in it This friend drove it on the road once. The car did not make it through a curve and ended its journey in a ditch! That was the end of the Isetta!
  15. Missing from the discography is the December 1952 session with the Jackson-Harris unit for Clef§Norgran/Verve with Bill Harris and Chubby Jackson plus other sides with the same unit (including a February 1953 broadcast with Charlie Parker!
  16. This TV watcher says: good riddance! This vinyl fanatic says: to hell with digital, bring back analog
  17. I'll take it on blind faith! PM on the way
  18. Short but effective is the 59seconds improvisation on Two-Part Invention No. 13 that is the final track of the Hatology reissue of Warne Marsh 'Ne Plus Ultra'. This one was not on the original Revelation vinyl release.

    Joe "Habao" Texidor

Sad Moments! The brief note says he was buried at the jewish community cemetery. His father was from Panama, his mother was from Spain. He met Roland Kirk when Kirk visited Sam Goody's NYK store where Texidor was an employee. Texidor helped Kirk with reading him liner notes to albums he was interested in! Texidor will be missed!
  20. Charles Mingus 'Presents Charles Mingus' (Candid, mono, orange label) Mingus' best group ever?
  21. Favorites? 'North By Northwest', of course! A very strong other score would be the music for 'Psycho'.
  22. Looks like George Romney is pulling out of that 'White Jazz' film http://www.product-reviews.net/2007/10/22/...-of-white-jazz/
  23. Jacques Loussier - who does not want to leave any Bach stone unturned - has a new CD coming out these days Encore!?!
  24. Still waiting for that followup, in the meantime here is a sample from Sempé's latest book 'Sentiments Distingués' out this week!
