It's so slow that when I post here, it takes long minutes to make sure the post went through or an error message pops up

Gambit is releasing this CD annoucement comes with the following text: 'Oscar Peterson (p), Sam Jones (b), Bobby Durham (d) with guest star Coleman Hawkins (ts) on 4 tracks. Radio broadcast, live from the Funkhaus, Hannover, Germany, October 23, 1967. This previously unissued concert in Hannover was taped for a German radio broadcast and is their last known encounter. Hawk's evocative solo on "September Song" must be noted among the many highlights of the concert, as well as Peterson's trio version of "Alice in Wonderland". Track Listing: 1. Shaw 'Nuff, 2. Stella By Starlight, 3. Never Say Yes, 4. Alice In Wonderland, 5. Satin Doll, 6. Moonglow, 7. Sweet Georgia Brown, 8. September Song, 9. Stuffy, 10. Waltzing Is Hip, 11. Lil' Darlin', 12. Quiet Nights (Corcovado), 13. Let's Fall In Love. Total Time: 75:25 mins.' Only 'Moonglow' seems to have been released before on Moon Records in pretty bad sound. But Hawk is in fine form there. Hope the rest of the Gambit release is just as good.

Trouble ahead for Lance Armstrong

This is getting beyond boring Let me just refer to an interview with one of the authors of the book 'L.A. Confidential' which I brought attention to in the opening post of this thread. http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/6295.0.html The book is still on sale in France despite Armstrong's attempts to have the book banned or at least to have denials inserted in copies. -

He was never tested positive Partly because the doping tests at the time were not as thorough as they try to be by now. Many teams (and that goes mostly for Armstrong's teams) used (and probably still use) better performance-enhancing drugs that fail to be detected by anti-doping investigations. Virenque was a member of the Festina team whose health assistant Willy Voet was arrested as the Tour de France 1998 was getting under way. Voet had with him large quantities of prescription drugs and illegal drugs used for doping. Voet named Virenque as one of the users. The rider denied he had used the substances intentionally. No one bought that version. Virenque later confessed having doped himself. -

Lance Armstrong was tested positive during the 1999 Tour de France. He tested positive for the corcicoid triacinolone which he claimed he had taken to treat saddle sores. Armstrong had not declared his use of this skin cream prior to the test, in violation of cycling rules. However his explanation was accepted by the very lenient International Cycling Union. -

Too bad if you are aggravated with this story. I am getting bored with the whole thing myself But why turn this into an anti-French tirade? Because I'm French and posted this? And because a number of informations come from a French newspaper? The newspaper L'Equipe is no 'tabloid news rag' but a fullsize and reputable newspaper that deals with sports only. 'L'Equipe' is also part of the publishing empire that organizes the Tour de France races. The TdF offices are housed inside the L'Equipe publishing grounds just outside Paris. So when the paper publishes a story that speaks badly about the Tour, attention should be paid because you can be sure the story has been double (even triple) checked! As for the current state of French cycling, may I point to the last French great by the name of Richard Virenque who retired recently. Virenque - a national hero - was hounded by the Press for refusing to admit - in spite of the mounting evidence - that he was 'being helped'. Virenque finally admitted that he took illegal substances, made peace with himself and with an adoring public. Please pay attention to the Dick Pound statement that Claude posted. Dick Pound is the chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency! You say 'It's different'. I say Vive la Différence! -

You know I have private and ulimate evidence that he is clean. Therefore he is obviously clean until you can refute this evidence that I am not at liberty to disclose. How does that sit with you from the other side of the table? So you sit on one side of the table, I sit on the other side. Looks like we will not change our opinions. Too bad! Next question, what's for desert? -
Clifford, Jacques Thollot was around and free at the time of those Actuel sessions. Not as free was Aldo Romano but he was also around and a better drummer than Delcloo. But Delcloo made a name for himself before those recording sessions when he started a magazine named Actuel around 1968. The original magazine's existence was short-lived. It was taken over for a while by Jean Karakos (one of the people involved with the Actuel record label). Actuel became a successfull venture when it was bought by Jean-François Bizot who made a trendy magazine out of it. Don't know the exact truth about Delcloo's involvement with the label but being close to Karakos probably made things easy enough for him to produce and contract some of the sessions. Mention of Delcloo's name does not seem to leave many regrets with people who were involved with those sessions. And I agree that Beb Guerin should not be dragged down with Delcloo. He was a great musician, a good friend. HE is being missed!

Dan, hold your horse!!! From The Chicago Tribune today: I have already stated that I had had private - and very confidential - informations on Lance Armstrong being 'helped' to victories and have full confidence in the sources. This did not refer to the 1999 (nor with the 2004 one) Tour de France which is the case here but with another one. When and if proved wrong, I'll be ready to apologize. We're a long way from that day! -

The package from Allegro was delivered this morning. Fast and cheap. Great service. Only one item (Duke Ellington Treasury Shows, vol. 9) proved to be deleted. The rest made it fine. Will be doing more business with them!
