  1. No Happy Birthday to Ophelia thread can be complete without this poem by Arthur Rimbaud: Ophelia Happy Birthday
  2. The Sonny Clark Memorial Quartet (John Zorn, Wayne Horwitz, Ray Drummond, Bobby Previte)album 'Voodoo' on Black Saint had several tunes (including 'Cool Struttin'', 'Minor Meeting', 'Sonny's Crib', etc...) that appeared first on BN.
  3. That list has 20 titles. The Debut box had 23 titles from the Cafe Bohemia date. Alternates of 'Drums' (another one), 'Love Chant' and 'Haitian Fight Song' that do not seem to be in the Victor set.
  4. First, a very hearty Welcome Back ! It's been a much too long time... Now about that Mingus at Bohemia, I saw a copy once but the release added nothing new to the material that was in the 'Charles Mingus, the Complete Debut Recordings' box!
  5. couw is next in line: been there, done that... Stunning image by Guy Le Querrec! A classic!
  6. And looks like the film director had a sexchange operation and now goes by the name of Charly Clark

  10. I don't have the disc yet... ... but I love its cover
  11. Is that as good as I think it is? (I wish they'd issue some more Wright on CD.) MG It is good! Piano trio albums like this one were a dime a dozen in the early '60s! Very nice to relisten to them nowadays. I also have 'The Last Amen' on my to-play list! Fond memories of that one!
  12. The Thelonious Monks, the Clifford Brown, the Gerry Mulligan Quartet, the Art Pepper Pacific Jazz....
  13. John Wright 'Nice 'n' Tasty' (Prestige, mono) with Wendell Marshall and J.C. Heard
  14. Roy Eldridge 'What It's All About' (Pablo) with Budd Johnson and Norris Turney, etc...
  15. Is that take different from the one on "Mingus" - I have that. I old the Candid Dolphy CD because it duplicated so many tracks, and I didn't need all those alternates. If one of you could add timings, I could compare. It's the same take! Clocking at 13m25s on the original Candid Mingus LP and the Candid Dolphy CD. On the Candid Dolphy CD, all takes are alternates except 'Stormy Weather' and 'Moods in Free Time'.
  16. Mike, that'll teach you to sell valuable music! I cherish my copy... Here goes: - Reincarnation of a love bird, take 1 - Stormy weather, take 1 - T'ain't nobody's business if I do, take 3 - Body and soul, take 2 - African lady, take 4 - Quiet, please, take 1 - Moods in free time, take 5 - Hazy hues, take 5
  17. I use Internet Explorer, indeed! Anything Internet Explorer users can do to circumvent this?
  18. The Theatre Dunois is in southern Paris. It closed its jazz activities about ten years ago. Some of their jazz concerts are available on videos they provided on their link: http://www.dunoisjazz.info/TRESOR1.htm Enjoy!
  19. That store is CrocoJazz! At the top of the Rue de la Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, just before the Place du Panthéon. Great place run by a good friend Gilles who has an excellent knowledge of everything jazz and also wine! It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Lots of listening plus winetasting sessions have been held there! Quite a good mix which makes the walk down the steep Rue easier
  20. Charles Mingus Sextet 'Concertgebouw Amsterdam, April 10th 1964 Volume Two' (Ulysse)
  21. I'ld rather deal with Fred than with Susan
