  3. Tour of Spain winner Roberto Heras, a former teammate of Lance Armstrong, tests positive. From Reuters:
  4. Sorry Alfred, I don't wash my LPs. I listen to them You know that French people don't wash, don't you?
  5. The Hathut and the Impulse live albums are somehow similar and feature the same band with one exception (Bill Folwell is on bass on the European concerts with Alan Silva taking over in the Village) but both should be enjoyed. Never enough of Ayler material!

  7. Sienna Brown like the one shown here might look all right but even better if it was a shade lighter The right word for photography is SEPIA! (Ed: you beat me to this!)
  8. I still use peachy but would change to brown (OK light brown!) if/when available!
  9. Looks like the book is out Bouncin' With Bartok Anybody read it yet?
  10. The Kenny Clarke-Francy Boland Big Band 'Now Hear Our Meanin'' (Columbia, stereo)
  11. Not here to defend NPR (I don't listen to it!) but I assume they were refering to the fact that George Best was referred as the FIFTH Beatle in his better days. 'Those were the days' (in the mid-sixties) when Best and the Beatles were the most popular British citizens!
  12. May he rest in peace Even Tony Blair had it right this time! "We all know that George Best was probably the most naturally gifted footballer of his generation, one of the greatest footballers the UK has ever produced," Prime Minister Tony Blair said.
  13. You won't regret it

  15. Might be forgivable, given that the list was complied in 1995 and the disc was released in 1997. It may be news to you but before music was available on CDs (and probably before you came to this world!), there were those objects called vinyls. Wonderful objects! My vinyl copy of 'The New Vilage on the Left' dates from 1977. I have loved this album since that time!
  16. London had superior pressings, much better than most Atlantics. But I hated those slim sleeves!
  17. My feelings, exactly
  18. Am I the only one to be disturbed by the fact that its Best's personal doctor who is announcing that Best has only a few more hours to live? I thought this type of medical informations about a sick person were private and confidential! What a sad end to a great player
  19. Should have added about the Bob Enevoldsen album on Tampa that the cover (a rather ugly sketch) shows a tenor saxophone, not a trombone!
  20. Good, you have the original edition then! Great session! Now listening to: The Swingville All Stars 'Rockin' In Rhythm' (Swingville red label) with Taft Jordan, Hilton Jefferson, Al Sears, Don Abdney, Wendell Marshall, Gus Johnson! Oh yeah
  21. Glad to hear from you, Simon! Hope your troubles will be over soon and you will be back posting here
  22. He indeed played tenor saxophone. He can be heard on the instrument on several sides that were included in 'The Complete Nocturne Recordings', vol. 1 that was produced by Fresh Sound. A highly recommended set! Enevoldsen plays also tenor (and valve trombone of course!)on the Bob Enevoldsen Quintet album that came out on Tampa and was reissued invinyl days by VSOP. The quintet also include Marty Paich on piano and accordion, Red Michell on bass, Don Heath on drums and Larry Bunker on vibes and drums. Enevoldsen plays excellent tenor on 'Topsy' and a couple of other tracks.
  23. A top ten list of Black Saint/Soul Note that leaves out Marcello Melis' 'The New Village on the Left' cannot be taken very seriously

  25. That's a very existential question... That's just what I ask myself every day!
