That original True Blue finally went up to $1326

Yves, if you're getting new vinyl there is no need to clean them. Just handle them properly and they will last a lifetime. I have not cleaned most of the vinyls I have had for years and most still appear brandnew. Before spinning them, I just use an antistatic Statibrush Gold Label (Made in France, mais oui!!) to make sure there is no dust on the surface. Has worked fine for me for years. Not certain however those Statibrush are still being sold but I am pretty sure similar models are still available. The Discwasher (and similar systems) are needed only for badly handled vinyls!

Never saw that one! If it's digital, I'll stick with my CD... Now spinning: Art Pepper'The Way It Was!' (Contemporary stereo) with Warne Marsh
-
Was this released on vinyl?

Still no word on his death from the 'official' sources (looked thru the LA Times site in vain!) but there is no reason to doubt it. Unfortunately

I wish my French was better. Nah, it´s just a matter of pronunciation... Can't you read braille?

Ben Webster 'Ben At His Best' RCA France Recorded in Holland with Dutch musicians including Ray Kart, Cees Slinger, etc...

Well he's here all the time. Day and night. Night and day. What a life

I knew it would get to this. Is 7/4 awake yet? Let him sleep. He'll come with enough of his useless posts when he wakes up. Yesterday, he's had another busy day of trying to set posts records! Obviously the only thing he really cares about

If you're speaking of the album that includes 'Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen', 'Deep River', 'Greensleeves', 'Carry Me Back to Old Virginia' and other traditional tunes, this was released at the time on French RCA under the title 'Ben At His Best'. A vinyl. Webster was in fine form throughout. The whole sounded pretty secular to my ears. Will spin this later in the day! Just want to add that I can't remember a less than very good Ben Webster session! Also I'ld be more than happy if the supermarket I go to played this music!

Should really be going back to see 'Otto e Mezzo'. I did not remember Claudia looking so etheral in the film! She still looks very good these days.

A mightily interesting interview you did, Clifford! Bernard Stollman is one of a kind! This brought back many memories (including several afternoons at 27 Cooper Square!). Glad to hear he will issue that Norman Howard session! Also any idea if he is still doing work for the Duke Ellington estate?

This means the cigars are not Havanas! I'll skip this then

If the still is from Fellini's '8 1/2', the girl must be Claudia Cardinale. Failed to recognize her right away but this has got to be CLAUDIA!
-
She is not Sandra Milo. NO WAY!

There are reports of the death of valve trombone player Bob Enevoldsen on other Boards. Could not get any official confirmation on this sad news. He was 85. A very unique voice has been silenced!

I got tired of my Miles avatar (makes me think of Vince Wilburn ), so I temporarily replaced it with Helène Grimaud http://www.helenegrimaud.com/ She's a stunner. Can she play? My son who listens to classical music only (he also plays the piano) is a big fan of her. And probably in love with her! I don't think she is a bad pianist but I have grown tired of hearing variations on her interest in wolves
