Track 3 - 'Blues for Bud' by Hampton Hawes. Will go looking for that album. Hawes recorded so many sessions when he came to Europe that I passed this one as just another one. But after heating this on the BFT, I know now it's just as good as the other albums he made in those times. Great selection!

I have heard that voice when this version came out in the sixties. 'Freedom' was originally issued on 'The Definitive Jazz Scene, Volume 1' anthology on Impulse which gathered several sides that were left out of other Impulse albums. The liner notes to that album were written by George Hoefer who mentions that a choral group was added to the Mingus ensemble for that track. No other identifications.

Tjobbe, I have both Mobley Prestige vinyls with me right now! First went under the title 'Mobley's Message'. Second was 'Mobley's Second Message'.

Oh, yes Pere Ubu! But soccer is a religion where repentance is not an acceptable word. Ask Eric Cantonna!

At the same time, Richard Alderson worked for Prestige, he also took care of many of ESP best recordings, including Ayler's 'Bells', the Charles Tyler ensemble, the Pearls Before Swine, the Fugs and many others!
-
The liner notes to the Lucky Thompson Plays Happy Days are Here Again (Prestige 7394) state that it was the Prestige debut for Alderson. David Himmelstein notes that Alderson is 'a young technician with a jazz soul whose mission is to ''return'' to the live sound of jazz that has been engineered out of most modern records by the antiseptic approach of high fidelity buffs'. Other albums I checked (not much time right now!): Houston Person 'Blue Odyssey (7566) Richard Alderson Don Patterson 'Opus de Don' (7577) Orville O'Brien(Town Sound) Barry Harris 'Bull's Eyes' (7600) Richard Alderson

Very interesting site! One date that is listed in this Unissued discography has been issued. The November 1, 1981 concert at Columbia University was released in Japan on DIW in 1994. It's the 4CD set 'Interpretations of Monk'.

Wouldn't mind a set that would include the Complete Prestige New Jazz recordings of Booker Little and Eric Dolphy!

FRANCE, the 1992 EUROPEAN CHAMPION? Gasp! That's news for me who thought that DANEMARK was the winner. And FRANCE out during the first round. FRANCE has win twice the EUROPEAN. In 1984 (PLATINI's years) and 2000 (ZIDANE's one). In 1992, MARSEILLE have win the CHAMPION'S LEAGUE (first of the name). Maybe you're mixing the two event. ← You're right and I wrong. I mixed the European championships. And shouldn't have since I attended both finals (1984 at the Parc des Princes in Paris when France won and 1992 in Goteborg when Denmark won! Should have checked my facts first!
