  1. Thanks to all who liked it. I am already thinking of revisions I should have considered. and may yet do. And for the record, I have to say that if you want one of these to work there are two requirements: The first two sentences of Hitler's rant has to end on the same word - whatever that word is - just as he says the same word. And you gotta come up with an intelligent way to incorporate "and Stalin!"
  2. I always thought the best ones of these things tried to incorporate what Hitler says, which is why I did the Seinfeldian riff on crepes, too, which led to the ice cream FLOAT line too.
  3. Hitler Reacts - Eagles touring without Glenn Frey Spent a good part of the afternoon on this, posted to FB but many won't see that in their feed. Hope you like I was real pleased with the final result.
  4. Working this t-shirt design to a specialty store. I've used Zazzle but they have rejected it even when I removed Percy's name.
  5. I never thought of it as garbage.
  6. That's the most horrifying pile of crap remake/remix/whatever I've had the misfortune of hearing. How about this instead:
  7. So if Cashman has a blank check already signed by the Steinbrenner Bros, does anyone have a chance to keep Cole away from the AL East? My interest in the 2020 (AL) season may depend on it.
  8. Seeing the answers and doing a little investigating would this be his most accessible/inside recording? I was going to post that I felt like this was a guy who was inside/outside and maybe was holding back but instead I just went for the vibist/vibe pun.
  9. Didn't Threadgill get a night or three at Lincoln Center a couple of years ago? Just sayin', I no longer have a dog in this hunt.
  10. Thanks John for an interesting set - I'm pretty sure I got a couple. Everybody check if there's a blue moon. Track 1 - Soprano is just a hard instrument for me to deal with. Always has been ... Track 2 - I felt very lucky when Jim Gallert gifted this recording to me many years ago, when there were initial plans to reissue it. I am extra lucky to have very recently taken it out of the stacks and listened again, as I am not sure if I would have ID'd the track from my very own BFT #16 if I hadn't heard it again recently. I can't believe that BFT was 2004 and it didn't actually see release until 2017 according to discogs. Track 3 - nothing for me here I'm afraid. Track 4 - vocalist really lost me quickly but I am very glad to have let the track continue as the 'bonist is very nice. No ideas though. Would really enjoy this track if it faded up on the trombone and out before the vocal came back. Track 5 - Not a vibist I know but I do like the, how shall I say this? Vibe? Track 6 - we're back to instrumentation that doesn't do it for me ... Track 7 - It sounds like EA, who I once thrilled to but as I have shifted a lot of listening to midsize groups, riffing behind the soloist kind of swing era jazz I find this kind of modern soloist plus rhythm less enjoyable. In fact, it feels "cold" to me. I may get back to Eric Alexander some day but I am not feeling like its anytime soon. Track 8 - I got nothin'. Track 9 - Well that is Blakey and oh, hello there Mr. Shaw. Long track, started to lose me after Woody. Did Woody play on a Blakey album with Schnitter? He's one of those post-Trane tenors who don't work for me. Which can be good when it saves me money on a possible purchase. Mileage, of course. Thanks again Felser, we presenters gotta support each other!
  11. Different era Jim but I still have an open offer of a later era flip CD in the pay it forward thread.
  12. I think its later than the 70s.
  13. The people creating it ... yes obviously they know what they are using/influenced by. My reference was to whether those young dancing fools know or give a shit .... the answer to which is "no" and "not at all." And the significance of one dance music for one generation and another for a later one is ...?
  14. Mileage and all that but this was the most painfully horrifying "music" I've heard since I sampled that new Brotzmann recording after reading the recent thread and checking it out at bandcamp. How anyone finds something stimulating in either of these "artists" is completely beyond my comprehension. As for the House music I'm sorry I can't get past the "disco" beat. And since its meant for young people to dance to I'm left to really question whether any of them have any idea or remote concern for the "jazz" building blocks in there or that this DJ or someone else has some great jazz bona fides.
  15. Alrighty then ... perhaps this regular compiler will have some of those thoughts for you ...
  16. But if they are all issued wouldn't they have the "Originally Produced by" credit?
  17. tapes or some record of these sessions that aren't in the BN discog?
  18. Pretend I'm stupid. What exactly are the rules?
  19. Finally, an advantage to being hearing deficient. Hearing aids amp up all sounds, so I realized very quickly when I started wearing them nine years ago that I would habitually keep them out while driving and especially on the highway. There I can crank the stereo and hear (mostly) just the music. I just finished up a two hour drive to Mom's house in Naples, heard every single bass solo. And I drive a Kia Rio.
  20. (belatedly)
  21. Sure that's not styrofoam construction?
