  1. Yes, when I choose "burn audio cd" it recognizes FLAC files as acceptable source files. The software I use is ashampoo which was free and I've found to be very reliable even if you get some sort of pop up at the start for another product of some sort or another.
  2. Anything that is outputting as a CD is playable on a CD player. If you author an mp3 disc that's another issue. My burner makes CDs from source files including wav, FLAC and MP3. All playable on standard CD players. If you have to extract or convert to wav then your burner or the software might be a little out of date.
  3. Also with Jaws:
  4. In my burner program, so can MP3s and FLAC files too. I've always wondered whether conversion from MP3 to wav format would reveal the limitations of MP3s but as many have commented, the quality of MP3s is high enough nowadays that it doesn't degrade the apparent quality.
  5. Stanley Turrentine with The Three Sounds, Blue Hour (the original issued session) Three Sounds, Moods Dexter Gordon, One Flight Up Jackie McLean, Bluesnik Hank Mobley, Workout I'm thinking of the top five I listen(ed) to compulsively. There are others that could replace the bottom three but I can honestly say the top two would be in any list I ever try to compile. And the bottom three feel pretty good to me right now.
  6. Work on your reading skills Tim. But let's try one more time: It wasn't the same roster that won three times. One never has to "follow" any team to make knowledgeable judgments about it based on its results, which this year was: barely over .500 record; completely shitty bullpen; pathetic collapse in September that nearly took them out of the playoffs; lucky to get into the playoffs; bounced in the division series; Still waiting to hear from you your explanation for their FAILURE to do anything in the other three years. Guess those rosters just didn't have heart, soul, determination or a set of balls. But where the hell did they find them in the even years? I'm just at a loss, and I am truly thru with you.
  7. Arguing with you is such a waste of time but what the hell. 1. THIS sucky team was bounced in the first round of the playoffs which it barely qualified for. The idea that they are somehow equivalent to a roster that won 103 games is so ludicrous it beggars the imagination. 2. There were three different teams that won it all. Rosters change. Who exactly is still on the roster, from the start of the first championship season to this one? 3. If the roster is so special, how come it failed in those odd years? Oh, maybe its because it was luck and coincidence that they found success in even years. 3. And ... luck runs out for everyone. Or do you think that guts and stamina, and heart and determination is what it takes to win so many elimination games in a row? Good luck finding that closer with crappy stuff but great heart. It's the newest undervalued commodity. Wait until Billy Beane finds out he's going to blow up the A's again.
  8. Heart and determination huh? Too bad heart and determination can't actually close games. And the NL West was competitive? Two teams over .500, three that were terrible. The AL East had FOUR teams over .500. The Giants had a huge fundamental flaw that was their problem all year and never did anything about it. I'll give RESPECT to any team that makes the playoffs (even in this day and age with two wild cards) but if this is pre-1969 the Cubs win the pennant by, wait for it, EIGHT games. And the Giants? 16.5 games off the pace. Yeah, there's a HUGE difference between those rosters. The difference in results don't lie. Tell me Tim should the GM look for a closer with mediocre stuff but a lot of heart and determination who 'gets the job done'? After all, its the Giants way.
  9. The bullpen issues was the single reason why I wanted the Giants to beat the Mets. The Mets have pitching and a great closer and I figured the Giants total lack of any consistency in the pen could be a difference-maker. I don't know who to root for in the other series now but at least Scherzer is burned for games one and two if the Nats win. I guess he could go in 3 and 7 but if the Cubs take advantage and don't let it go to a game 7 that will work fine for me.
  10. As I said mileage does vary. Hope you do enjoy this new release on its own terms.
  11. Major thumbs up for Bill Doggett Am I Blue, I went for this hoping against hope that David "Bubba" Brooks was on board and when I heard the tenor I thought, 'yeah I think it is Bubba' and a search online confirms it: Unheard Bubba Brooks. YEAH!
  12. I'd take Lackey over Tampa reject Matt Moore any day of the week. Your team has their work cut out for them to get it back to Chicago.
  13. Never in my live have I seen a team go from red-hot to ice-cold in the blink of an eye. Words can't express but I'll try: appalling, pathetic, embarrassing, lame. They win what, 12 straight then can't get out of their own way for almost the equivalent amount of time. All the commentary was about how the Red Sox were the class of the league, should go to the World Series. And now this. Too bad the piece of shit version showed up when it truly mattered.
  14. I definitely give a thumbs up to the Roy Milton release.
  15. Just heard two of his Black & Blue dates and a hearty . Shouldn't have slept on him so long.
  16. Nominations for the Chris Albertson Memorial I'm Outta Here award are now closed.
  17. And Buchholz is all that stands between the Sox and elimination. I'm not even watching, but at least I know it will be his final appearance in a Red Sox uniform, and it can't come soon enough. GO CUBBIES!!!
  18. Just as I predicted. Such a fucking waste of money David Price will always be. When does the Cub game start?
  19. Feels to me that the Sox are in a big hole already. With Porcello pitching they had to win that game. Now its David Price and with his up and down 2016 and historically putrid post-season career, I seriously fear going to Boston down 0-2 unless Kluber isn't 100% and the offense gets its ass in gear and they win a slugfest.
  20. Mileage will vary and all of that but unless you really believe the Stones PR why would you want to listen to covers rather than the originals? Mick did an ill-fated session with ... the Blue Devils(?) which never saw commercial release but appeared on Dime. Same concept different band. And the same vocalist who can never, ever compare to the original blues singers. But I'm sure there are plenty who don't see it that way so ...
  21. Going back to the topic of Black & Blue releases, can anyone shed light on the Chicago Blues Festival releases? There seem to be five in the series but info is scarce online. The major question I have is whether this was an early attempt to reconfigure existing music into new packaging or are these legit live recordings, possibly not available since?
  22. Funny I thought that was Sir Mix-A-Lot.
  23. Only if someone improvised in such a way that the treacly melody was never played, maybe turn it into a party song while you're at it? Even then, uh, no. Not for me. Not ever.
