  1. FWIW I purchased a huge amount of Steeplechase discs recently and some are going to be offered here soon. So anyone who prefers physical discs, stay tuned. In keeping with the purpose of the thread, off the top of my head I'd include every Dexter release and Blue Parlan.
  2. Well sure. But I'd be happy to be remembered for one sweet swing in the '75 series, game 6. OTOH this BFT could turn out to be a swing and a miss, and you can call me Steve Balboni.
  3. God you guys are old. If you want to talk feared pinch hitters with a sweet left-handed power stroke I was hoping to hear "Bernie Carbo".
  4. Your attention, please. Now batting for Mike Weil, Daniel Gould. GOULD. </Sheppard> Always wanted to get a Yankee Stadium introduction. Post here if you need a burn though I think its been ages for that to have been requested. As long as Thom is able to make the latest aggregation (13 tracks, 90 minutes or so) publicly available the fun will start Feb 1. Edit to add the linky-dink: http://thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/
  5. I have it at 51 minutes ... but I agree a fuller disc would have been nice, especially since they replied to an email that they have no plans for any future release. If these were three 30 minute broadcasts that would be 90 minutes potentially. To borrow a Gene Harris composition, "Oh Well Oh Well", I'll take what we have.
  6. I went for the cheap joke and whadayaknow: it really exists.
  7. All is right now because I-tunes is removed from mom's PC and the files are on my thumb drive. Not a fan of Apple to begin with and I certainly expected that, like Amazon MP3 purchases, I'd get a pop up or a screen for immediate download and not have to search thru the Help function to figure this shit out. And, I think I bought it twice too. So, F Apple.
  8. OK so I am back at Mom's just downloaded I-Tunes found Volume 2 and clicked thru to purchase. Where the *^%$ are these files? I do not wish to click thru purchase again but the program doesn't show any items in my library. I can't begin to say how frustrated I am right now so any help from I-tunes people would be enormously appreciated.
  9. And IMHO Moods is the best of all of The Sounds BNs.
  10. You're killin' me! Already ordered and shipped.
  11. If you don't mind my asking what was the Groove's price on the Mobley? I found it at Eastwind Imports for $27, higher than CDJapan but cheaper when factoring in shipping. And I also threw something in, Dexter Gordon Those Were The Days which I suspect is a better sounding version of the Moon CD.
  12. Track titles seem to be the same as what I have on three CDRs from many years ago. But I found samples and I agree the MP3s sound much better. So maybe this was remastered from original tapes? That makes this intriguing to say the least.
  13. And on a day when a Book Review publication declared they would boycott all Simon & Schuster imprints for the rest of the year to "protest" their signing of some author. Clearly we still need Nat Hentoff. RIP.
  14. I don't know why I missed this but I just got to the part of Porter's Soul Jazz book that mentions Bostic recording with Groove Holmes and Pass which sent me here and now, off to Amazon. Ordered.
  15. Sent an email to the president of the label, got no response. There are definitely more Live at the Penthouse releases coming or Wilke wouldn't be referring to "this series" in his bit in the booklet.
  16. A joyous holiday to all, and a question: Is it Merry or is it Happy Christmas? I noticed MG's choice of adjective and it gets me wondering. I just discovered now that "Feliz" is "Happy" in Spanish so maybe we're the only ones to say Merry Christmas?
  17. The incognito trick is most helpful. I've been reading the Times online for free for at least ten years - using Chrome - by simply reading ten articles, then clearing history, closing the browser and reopening. Now I can just keep going.
  18. The Boys of Summer The Beach Boys Charles Manson
  19. That one has been floating around for a long time.

    Yes

Or if you are like me, you just keep them at a distance. A long distance. <ducks and covers>
