  1. Well I guess I should say thanks to Paul for relieving me of my dream find. I still like the track and I'm still glad to have bid and if I put it in with another BB comp it's not like I could tell the difference.
  2. Stumbled across a 45 auction on eBay which had audio links for a good portion of each side. Mr. Bo. and His Blues Boys, on the Big D label out of Detroit If Trouble Was Money: http://www.carolinasoul.com/audioclips/4517654b.mp3 I Ain't Gonna Suffer: http://www.carolinasoul.com/audioclips/4517654a.mp3 I know B.B. was such a huge influence back then, in fact just this week I was listening to the Ace compilation of blues on the Meteor label and listened to early Little Milton sounding an awful lot like B.B. But damn with a capital D, to me that sounds an awful lot like the man himself. I know he recorded once for Chess and the Bihari's sued and took control of the masters. Could B.B. have recorded a one-off for this label? And what of that name, His Blues Boys? We know what his original nickname was ... if only they'd called him Riley and His Blues Boys, right? So what do you think? No way in hell, maybe, maybe yeah could be?
  3. Allen, I've noticed you make these statements in the past and I just can't ignore them. I don't care that you are so adamant in your belief that Oswald didn't act alone or really was a patsy, or whatever the hell you think of the assassination. But JFK being slandered with false charges of screwing whoever he felt like screwing whenever the urge struck? His own damn widow knew about it. She even wrote about it in letters to others. You don't trust contemporaneous accounts of his infidelities? And what I can't get is why this would even matter to you. JFK was a hound dog or he wasn't. This matters? Perhaps this ties in to your belief that had he lived, Vietnam wouldn't have happened. He was that much of a saint - he couldn't send thousands of Americans to die and he couldn't step out on Jackie either. You do realize that this would make him utterly unique among the offspring, right?
  4. Growing up it was turkey for both Thanksgiving and Christmas but after marrying my wife I had to adjust to a Polish Catholic Christmas - meaning that Christmas eve is the big dinner, and that will be fish and pierogi (this year not even home-made pierogi) followed by gifts, so its quite late by the time we get back to our canine kids. Christmas dinner is a pork tenderloin or something like that. Basically an OK meal but it really feels like a hangover after the gorging of the previous night. They definitely don't put nearly the effort into the Christmas Day dinner. At some point I decided I missed my own family and that turkey dinner and went to CT, solo, for a Gould family Christmas but with Dad gone and Mom living in Naples, for the last few years it's been a second Christmas sometime in January to actually see my family, or those who can make it there. There will be no turkey and no trimmings, we'll just go out to a decent restaurant.
  5. This oddball is not just up on ebay right now but the listing has samples! http://www.ebay.com/itm/R-B-Jazz-45-Maury-Wills-w-Lionel-Hampton-Crawdad-Hole-Glad-Hamp-mp3-/171584308915?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item27f338c6b3 I can't listen at work but maybe someone can and report. I wonder if this will go for a crazy price or not.
  6. Wow what an unbelievable show, and a nice treat to meet Evan and his lovely wife. Everybody played great but it was amazing watching Jimmy Heath. Not only did he sound as good as ever but he was a total trip, having a blast and movin and groovin' to the music-making going on. He was like the great grandfather at his great granddaughter's wedding, just having a ball.
  7. To borrow a famous album title, Indeed!
  8. there is, and I have, and I think you're being facetious.
  9. Well I posted 8 hours early. My swag arrived and so did my Organissimo t-shirt.
  10. Up one last time ... me and Bright Moments are meeting up before the concert. Anyone else in south Florida score tickets? Please PM if you want to say hello before the show.
  11. Has anyone received their swag yet? It dawns on me I got a shipping notice over a week or so ago but nothing so far.
  12. I'm a little surprised no one has said they're into one of those new-fangled "muscle confusion" programs that were all the infomercial rage.
  13. It really is true you can't go home again. Lester to the Cubs. Well I guess the silver lining is that he's not in the Bronx (anyone have a clue why the Yankees were never in on him? Did Lester tell them he wouldn't sign so don't try? Are they saving their dollars for Scherzer? He'll cost much more, he's a year younger but still ... Lester in pinstripes has been my nightmare scenario since the Red Sox screwed up the negotiation last spring.) And, the Cubs are my second team and this makes them much closer to being contenders. If the Cubs win it all in the next six years I'll have a different view of this turn of events.
  14. Yes I do! Especially wondering if your routine is dependent on the particular lodgings you have at a given time. Doesn't sound that way unless you're staying in five-star hotels and I don't get that impression.
  15. I was on a steady declining (but horrendously slow) weight loss pattern more or less since I started my current gig 4+ years ago.. Went from a 44 inch pant to 38" but in the past year the weight stopped coming off even as I've made further changes in diet. I've inconsistently tried to incorporate exercise over the past year or so and now, after a more or less "lost" year I'm making a major push to show some gains (losses) by January 1. I got back on the stepper the week before Thanksgiving and I am going for two-a-day workouts, just like football teams in August. I've sacrificed 15 minutes sleep in the morning for 15-20 minutes, and I am going for 30 minutes on the stepper in the evening. Two days on, one off, so I am working out four times in about a 38 hour period. I worry a little about over-training the leg muscles but so far so good. I'm not even checking my weight until January 1, I don't want to see that at all between now and then. But I'll be mighty pisses if it hasn't budged. Guess I could have put this in the news from home thread but it seemed like a good intro to a poll. So ... exercise. Do you do any? And if so, what? Any exercise physiologists are encouraged to give me feedback on my new regimen.
  16. Have to admit that when I saw the title, I was hoping this was the Ralph Moore - Brian Lynch front line. I'd be all over that. This I'll have to give some thought to ...
  17. and I am certain I never heard of the Live at Pep's performances being "disastrous".
  18. Awesome Mike, congrats that this is funded with no muss or fuss - and no help from O-people (I assume). I am definitely in on this!
  19. Definitely exciting news though looking over that discography link I realize that in the past 15 years or so I've acquired used copies or burns of all the discs that stand out as 'must haves'. But there are enough unheard, intriguing ones that I will definitely go for this when they come out. (Also not a bad idea to give Mosaic a little love, as it's been quite a while since I bought, or caused to be purchased, any new releases.) Wondering if there are alternates or unissued tunes to be included - that would make this a no-brainer. Since they never came out on disc, there was never an opportunity to re-examine session tapes.
  20. Two weeks away so UP for any south Floridians who didn't know about this concert.
