  1. This hardly makes sense give when Clarke left the band - he was replaced in 1955 after only a few years and a handful of ten inch records. How did it become a "business" years before the group really hit its stride as one of the most popular bands of its era? My understanding was always that Clarke understood what, musically, Lewis wanted the band to be, didn't dig it and left.
  2. Gene Harris. Dude plays the same damn thing every time.
  3. I'm pretty sure Heilman didn't single-handedly blow an eight game lead with seventeen to play. He was hardly the sole reason for back-to-back failures either. It takes a team effort to do that.
  4. The Mets, IMHO, had a better team than the Rays, AND were picked to win it all. Yes, the injuries are a large part of their failures this year, but they also served to expose Minaya's inability to put together a well-constructed team (ie., the back ups suck big-time). After two straight September collapses and no significant improvements last off-season (well, they did sign K-Rod but its not like the bullpen was to blame for two straight collapses, plus they ended up re-signing that godawful lefty to a ridiculous deal), exactly who picked the Mets to win it all? I know of no one online or in the mainstream media who thought that the Mets would win the pennant, let alone the World Series, and I'd say the vast majority of prognosticators had the Phillies repeating in the division. The Rays, on the other hand, returned the same young and talented starters and everyday players who reached the World Series and added what was expected to be a strong bat at DH in Burrell. In fact, Burrell being awful had something to do with the Rays collapse.
  5. The Mets disappointed but they didn't fall from as high a lofty perch and they had extraordinary injuries to blame for their failures. The Rays went from winning the pennant to possibly finishing under .500.
  6. If he were only a Moonie instead of nutjob Scientologist.
  7. I can't stand her singing, her looks or her politics, and now she's defiled the Village Vanguard. Between this monstrosity and the abomination that happened at the 1.5 Billion Dollar Monstrosity in the Bronx, it truly was a lost weekend.
  8. And completely ripped off by Rod Serling.
  9. These are the only Hank sessions I've never heard. Isn't there another track on that date Hank does play on? I think I'd be pissed if I'd ever got around to this to find out that Hank only plays on the head at the end.
  10. Watching those motherfucking assholes celebrate will be nauseating and fucking infuriating. Up over and out. How sad and pathetic that the "greatest franchise in the history of sport" would possibly care.
  11. Hey, hope springs eternal - I just found out the Rays came back and beat the Rangers. We could clinch as early as tomorrow - except it will be a pretty late celebration if they manage to beat the Jays and then have to wait til a 10 PM start for the Angels hosting the Rangers. Better to lose tomorrow, have the Rangers lose, then they can win on Tuesday and have a spontaneous celebration. The only one of the season, I'm sure, but it will be a welcome sight.
  12. Francona felt Vmart needed the day off, and he didn't complain, which he has done before when Francona has tried to give him a day off, so Tito was pretty certain that Victor was happy to get the day off. They've used V-Mart with every significant pitcher on the roster so I don't think they are keeping Byrd from him. I wouldn't be 100% certain that the Varitek era will end soon, since he does have the 3 million dollar player option for next year. But its obvious they have no intention of exercising the 5 million dollar club option and fully intend to use Martinez as the #1 catcher. Would they allow Varitek to take the backup spot if he insists on coming back, or would they release him this winter or in the spring? No one knows but I am ready to see him go, that's for sure. At least the Angels are trying to clinch so I presume they will help us out. Its a very minimal consolation that Francona is playing for the wild card, this embarrassing weekend came without a single game in which they fielded the lineup that will play in October. Maybe, just maybe, they generate a respectable offense with the lineup that has Drew hitting 8th.
  13. I really can't afford any new purchases, so all I have to go on are the samples. I don't know if you can access rhapsody.com from GB but they allow 25 track plays per month, and the Woodard releases are available.
  14. To go from eight straight over the Yankees to being swept again, splitting the season series, and watching those motherfucking assholes celebrate is nauseating and fucking infuriating.
  15. Are you a fan of Rickey Woodard's tenor sax? He has a new one out, Why Did I Do It? Amazon Samples here. I think its available at CD Baby too, so if you place an order ...
  16. You could write him a letter, put your phone number on it, and fax it to him.
  17. Amazing coming from the man who doesn't believe that added strength makes a batted ball fly further.
  18. Serious bits of advice: Plan on calling him once to introduce yourself and explain what you are interested in learning and ask for a good time to call him again. Don't presume you can cold call someone than bombard them with questions. If possible, ask him if it would be possible to do a face-to-face interview. Either way, be prepared to document his responses on tape. If you are serious about this ...
  19. With Byrd pitching, they certainly will. Presuming that the Rangers help the Red Sox out the rest of the way, it is my devout wish that the Angels crush them, so that they can give the MFY a run for their money. The Yankees couldn't give a shit against Boston, they are on such a streak they know there is no way they'll lose. The Angels have eliminated the Yankees before and God willing, will do it again.
  20. Don't you know an asshole like me never keeps his word?
  21. Like that's a moving target.
  22. AND THAT WAS BEFORE THEY FUCKED UP A SIMPLE RUNDOWN. FUCKING SHITHEADS.
  23. Provided by the original: They're motherfucking worthless pieces of shit.
  24. What motherfucking pitcher's duel are you seeing? I see a fucking loser who has allowed a minimum of two baserunners every fucking inning.
  25. Have never done any listening during breakfast. Coffee, NYT Online, MLB Network or Sportscenter on in the background for highlights I am interested in watching.
