  1. Interesting stat from Peter Gammons today: Conclusions: Maybe the White Sox [can think about printing playoff tickets; The Yanks have put themselves behind the 8-ball: Since 1976, out of 36 teams that had a winning percentage betwee .400 and .449 on May 1, only 2 have made the play-offs. On the other hand, none of those 36 teams had a 205 million dollar payroll.
  2. Just got off the phone with Bill. Last week, Bob Rusch told me he'd be interested in a Dowdy interview for Cadence and Bill just agreed to do it!
  3. BTW, I stumbled across a page for that "Frankly Jazz" show http://www.franklyjazz.com/ Unfortunately, its just a home page, the links are just placeholders, but it now says "check back next week for our webpage premier" so maybe there's hope that the TV shows, or his radio broadcasts might be available soon? I sent an email to the contact addy but haven't gotten a response. but if something changes, I'll let y'all know.
  4. What else is Cd Universe involved in to be sending out a "blanket porno" mailing?
  5. Well, in some cases, you suddenly realize that someone has stopped posting but you don't actually have regular email contact - you're just curious, so by posting you might find out from the guy's friends what is up.

  7. Yes, Paul has it. I wasn't sure if that was kosher or not, if you're supposed to go directly to Grover and then build off of that ...
  8. Number one at the box office this weekend, so unless word of mouth kills it, it will probably be around for a while.
  9. Well, we need to hook up soon so I can give you the current box of reels back and get started on the rest!

  14. Thanks, Lon. Myself, I was really wondering about it because the commercial I saw made it look like some dumb special effects epic. My wife and I loved the books and enjoyed the BBC show, but I wasn't sure about the movie. Now I've seen one positive review (in the Times) and one negative review (Ebert, who went into it knowing nothing about the books and thought that it was too much of an inside joke that no one who hadn't read the books would understand). I think its on the "want to see" list now.

  19. I definitely think Schilling is running his mouth, but on the other hand, if anyone on the Rays actually said "this is why we lose 100 games a year" there ain't no way in hell they would have copped to it at the team meeting when Piniella asked.

  21. Make it June 16, so my wife and I can see him at Fenway June 14 and 15.

  23. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that when I looked over the Trip vinyl, there were some cuts that were short, like on the Drive Archive reissue, but it seems to me that there were others that were more "album" length. I might be wrong, but I'm beginning to think I may try to make a run to the record store I saw it at, if for no other reason than to check tunes and if I am remembering track length correctly. Unfortunately, its not right around the corner so getting there isn't that easy.
