  1. Unbelievable!!
  2. Sign me up please, Mr. Upright! If you need any help with copying and/or distribution of the CDs, let me know. I'd be glad to help.
  3. Is this some dutch female I don't know? ← You must be thinking of Terry VanGroos. I think she's the meteorologist on WOOD-TV or something... I'm planning on tuning in -- I want to find out if Jim gave a shout out to all his homies that knew the band before they got big and famous!
  4. Man, I thought this was about a different Clinton!
  5. Steve Erquiaga - Cafe Paradiso. The entire CD is solo acoustic guitar, some tracks have that "Spanish" sound. Check out track #2 in particular. Steve's website here.
  6. That reminds me... I need to order that one from yourmusic.com! I bet it won't be last call for quite a long time -- I still see metal spine versions of the Quintet box at local stores, and it's still available at CD Universe as well. I guess they aren't pulling them off the shelves once the long box arrives. Which makes we wonder what effect that has on casual Miles Davis fans, seeing all of these box sets with the same titles but different packaging. My local bookstore has multiple copies of both versions of a few of them; I'm sure it's confusing to some.
  7. Earlier discussion here. I have two of the long boxes (Quintet 65-68 and Gil Evans), and I find myself occasionally wishing I had bought the "metal spine" versions, if only so that they would match the Seven Steps box. The cost savings was nice, though. Yourmusic.com has the Quintet long box for $35.94 -- the other version is around $100!
  8. Actually, on my first time through, I thought that parts of it were a little MORE "pop-ish" than I had expected. Not that there's anything wrong with it. ← Me, too. Nothing wrong with most of it, but I can live without "The Rock and Roll Waltz".
  9. Uncle Skid, is it the place we went to after the Von Freeman show? That would be Rock Bottom! Mark ← Yup. That's the place!
  10. Wow, you're a genuine idiot! Read the topic, moron, and go troll somewhere else! Meanwhile, anyone have the latest numbers on copies left of J. J. Johnson?? ← Dang, that's a little harsh. SS1 is definitely not a troll. I'd bet there are less than 100 copies of the JJ by now... if you don't already have it, don't be a procrastinator!!
  11. Mine is #2973. ← And mine's #2974! ← #2949 checkin' in -- I didn't have very many vocalists in my collection either, and it sure seems like I picked a good place to start changing that!
  12. Am I the only guy on the planet who finds Jessica not that attractive? I find her even less appealing after the "Daisy Duke" workout -- she's too damn skinny! Catherine Bach: now that's what I'm talking 'bout!
  13. Regarding beer -- somewhere between the Jazz Showcase and the Jazz Record Mart, there is a restaurant/brewery that had some decent stuff on tap. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of it, but maybe Chuck or sheldonm can help me out here... Are you taking the kids to any jazz shows? The Showcase Sunday matinee is very kid friendly -- my two kids really enjoyed seeing Cedar Walton there this summer.
  14. Charlie Murphy says "Chappelle's Show is over, man. Done.". Dang, I hope he's wrong.
  15. Berigan, you might want to check out the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). It's free (downloadable) software, and has some pretty sophisticated photo retouching features. I've used it under Linux, but there is also a version for Windows. One major complaint with the program is that its user interface is difficult (non-intuitive) to use, but I believe that the newer versions have done things to make it better. Here's an article showing some of its features: Photo Touch Up and Enhancement in the GIMP
  16. Paging Soulstation1 -- looks like somebody needs "IT"!! (and "Tenderly" is AWESOME!)
  17. Got my copy today (a nice benefit of living only around 100 miles aways from Lansing); listening to "Smoking Section" right now. Ya gotta love those seamless time changes!
  18. It sounds like I may have gave up on this season too early. I've caught the last 5 minutes or so of the last two episodes, so I guess I already know this season's big surprise. ... and where the heck did Ed Begley Jr come from?
  19. Just received both sets yesterday, and based on disc 1 of each set only, I voted for Anita. The JJ's been on my want list for a long time, so I had already planned on getting that one sooner or later. The Anita wasn't even on the radar, so it is quite a pleasant surprise!
  20. Complete Verve Recordings of the Buddy De Franco Quartet/Quintet with Sonny Clark 4 CDs: $450.48!!
  21. Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan & Wayne Shorter Sessions Not sure which disc -- it's my "Second Genesis" MP3 playlist, which is in the original album order. I still prefer not to listen to the alternate takes all in a row.
  22. Dang! That buyer - gitgrad1998 - is on a Mosaic mission!! He or she has won quite a few Mosaic auctions in the last few months.
  23. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the exercises are available as PDF files -- check out tablatures of the demonstrations and download PDF.
  24. That picture looks like it's from an episode of COPS -- complete with guy losing his shorts. Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do....
