  1. It now looks like there is a real possibility that the Ticats will relocate. The Hamilton City Council today voted down the proposed location of a new stadium, and Ivor Wynne (which was built around 1930) can't go much further without a very expensive rehab for which there is no money. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=346537 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/hamilton-decides-against-mayors-pick-for-stadium-site/article1847692/ http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/ticats-search-for-new-home-hits-dead-end/article1847844/
  2. I saw him doing standup more than once on the Tonight Show and enjoyed him very much. Very laid back and easy going, and likeable.
  3. Happy Birthday 2010 Swinger!
  4. In his press conference immeidately after the Grey Cup game, Anthony Calvillo announced that he had a thyroid problem and would go under the knife soon. A lesion on the thyroid was removed, and it was determined to be cancerous. So today his thyroid gland was removed. The report is that the doctor is satisfied. But at 38 years of age, you have to wonder if this will be relevant to Calvillo's playing future. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/calvillo-has-second-operation-after-results-show-presence-of-cancer-cells/article1846443/
  5. Chuck, it looks like you've got a few CDs in your house!
  6. That's great! I remember when Tesser had an NPR show with Mark Ruffin, and before that a column in USA Today. I don't know what he's up to now. Any idea how influential his top ten list might be?
  7. Happy Birthday David!
  8. Happy Birthday 2010 Jay!
  9. Edmonton continues to announce more changes. They have released Jason Goss, Derick Armstrong and Kerry Joseph among others. And they have hired Marcus Crandell as their new offensive coordinator. http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=/cfl/news/AJN4364352.htm http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=345896

  13. Blake Edwards died yesterday. Although best known for his movies, he made this contribution to dramatic fiction: He was the first modern writer who created a private eye who got along swell with the police. Prior to him, there was usually friction between the private detective and the police. His first work in this regard was Richard Diamond on the radio with Dick Powell. He later took the same idea to television with Peter Gunn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blake_Edwards
  14. Thanks for that link, Paul. Actually it was the audio with the link that answered my question. The five players were encroaching upon the sidelines in an area where only the coaches are allowed to stand. Furthermore, Alosi initially denied instructing the players to stand there, so apparently the team now considers him to have answered the questions dishonestly.
  15. I don't understand the purpose of the wall. What's the deal?
  16. I notice how few of these are products of large labels/companies.
  17. Here is a list of the players in the league who will become free agents Feb. 16. I'm amazed that BC has only two. I can see Jarious Jackson and Ron Flemons moving. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=345601 ***** Kavis Reed announced his coaching staff today, notably Rich Stubler. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=345631
  18. Happy Birthday 2010 Phil, wherever you are!
  19. The Argos have given Jim Barker the additional duties of GM in addition to those of head coach. Adam Rita will not be returning. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/jim-barker-named-argos-gm/article1838633/
  20. Two family members have given me a little money to buy myself some Christmas presents. The idea is that nowadays the prices are better before Christmas, and if they wait till Christmas Day to give me the cash, I won't get as much. So I have already spent the money on a few items.
  21. I got this press release today: Many critics have opined that Lloyd's "New Quartet", with Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers and Eric Harland may be the best of all his groups. The quartet's previous release in this line-up, the live-recorded Rabo de Nube, met with across-the-board approval and was voted #1 album of the year in both the Critics and Readers Polls of JazzTimes. The Quartet has toured extensively since the September release of Mirror both in the states and abroad. Early in the new year they will again hit the road in the USA: January 20 - Hanover, NH - Hopkins Center Dartmouth College January 21 and 22 - Boston, MA - Regattabar January 23 - Burlington, VT - Flynn Center January 25 - Amherst, MA - U Mass January 28 - Middletown, CT - Wesleyan Univ. January 29 - New York, NY - JALC – Rose Theater January 30 - Buffalo, NY - Albright-Knox Gallery And later in the year: June 3 – Chicago, IL – Orchestra Hall – Charles Lloyd Quartet + Zakir Hussain
