  1. I remember 30 years ago there was a tape of bloopers frequently advertised on TV; ie, "World Cup soccer".
  2. Have a great time! You might find electronics there cheap, such as eBook readers. I didn't object to Nixon going to China. I just objected to him coming back!
  3. Jeff Garcia has signed to play with the new Omaha UFL team. (I see that Daunte Culpepper will play for the Sacramento team.) http://www.footballnewsnow.com/2010/jeff-garcia-joins-ufls-omaha-nighthawks/
  4. Happy Birthday kinuta!
  5. Gregg Xenakes Week 7 picks http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=/cfl/news/AJN4333636.htm ***** David Naylor Week 7 picks http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/week-7-cfl-picks/article1669957/
  6. Here are this past weekend's games: Montreal Alouettes 30.... Saskatchewan Roughriders 26 http://scoreboards.c...cap.aspx?id=852 I find that the Als have provided the greatest number of boring games over the past several years. They got off to a big lead and I thought the game was over. But Sask spent the entire game clawing back, closing to within two late in the game. ***** Toronto Argonauts 29....Edmonton Eskimos 28 http://scoreboards.c...cap.aspx?id=853 Another game in which one team got a big lead, and the other clawed its way back. In this case, the Eskimos scored a TD to take the lead, but the Argos took it back. On the last play of the game, Ricky Ray threw a 49-yard bomb, and the Eskimos then started lateralling the ball. Apparently no one had the presence of mind to realize that, being down on the Toronto 25, he should punt the ball through the end zone and tie the game, thus sending it into overtime. ***** Hamilton Tiger-Cats 29....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 22 http://scoreboards.c...cap.aspx?id=854 Good game between two bad teams. Alexis Serna missed to makeable FGs and was cut today. The Bombers have signed ex-Rider Louie Sakoda. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=330080 ***** Calgary Stampeders 27....British Columbia Lions 22 http://scoreboards.c...cap.aspx?id=855 Travis Lulay shows a lot of promise, but IMO he's just to green to be expected to lead the Lions to victory. Jarious Jackson played the fourth quarter and proved that he is healthy, so he will start this week. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=329994 The Lions today cut Derick Armstrong. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=330132 ***** Matt Flowers West report http://www.sportsnet.../AJN4333011.htm ***** Matt Flowers East report http://64.246.64.33/...aspx?id=4333384
  7. I'll get to this past weekend's games soon, but first this bulletin: It looks like the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will move to Quebec City. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/ticats-pull-out-of-stadium-debate/article1667147/
  8. Not enough! I'll have to ask for one for my birthday! By the way, Chuck. Whatever you are doing certainly is working considering your success in getting the Von Freeman played on Sirius XM and promoted in Amazon emails. But have you ever considered using Terri Hinte as your publicist? She's supposed to be the best.
  9. Yesterday's Nascar Nationwide race was called the Zippo 200. It reminded me that Zippo lighters and Case knives are made in Bradford, PA. What other consumer goods are made in America?
  10. A few years ago I read an interview with Ron McClure in which he said that it is hard for a bass player to find work because there are so many of them, but a trombone player doesn't starve because there aren't many.
  11. You've come to the right place! We have an expert here. Calling FFA!
  12. LOL! Both of the jetBook Lites are now sold out!
  13. As the prices are falling, I think a new record has been set. Newegg now has the white and burgundy jetBook Lites on sale for $69.99 plus $1.99 shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=jetBook+Lite&x=17&y=29

  15. DGS, I can think of college teams like Nebraska, but I can't think of a pro football team. Maybe the Red Sox in baseball. ***** The Als extended Jim Popp's contract through 2014. IMO, they need him a lot more than he needs them. http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4332103 ***** Matt Flowers West report: http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4332190
  16. The obit says that Hebb co-wrote the Lou Rawls hit A Natural Man with Sandy Baron. I remember a stand-up comic by that name from that time. Was that the same person?
  17. Happy Birthday Lon!
  18. RIP. I had a copy of Sunny when it was out in '66, and I still enjoy hearing it on the radio.
  19. The Bombers today cut Ike Charlton. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/blue-bombers-release-ike-charlton/article1659761/
  20. For some reason, I have always remembered Mitch smiling into the camera with that odd way of keeping time with his arms while the chorale sang "There's Going to to be a Great Day". This was about 1961. RIP I believe that Frank Sinatra felt that his tenure at Columbia was undermined by Mitch when he was made the a&r man. I read that somewhere, but I don't know the facts. I suppose that Mitch was famous for keeping rock & roll off the Columbia label. The company put it on the Epic label. I once saw Mitch on Play Your Hunch with Merv Griffin. His secret was that he was once a short order cook, and he showed how to crack an egg with one hand and drop it onto the skillet.
  21. Darian Durant played his college ball at Chapel Hill, and there is a terrific Sports Section front page article about him and the Riders in this morning's News & Observer. http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/08/01/607421/durant-finds-a-home-in-canada.html ***** Saskatchewan Roughriders 37....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 24 http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=canoe&page=cfl/scores/final/recap.aspx?id=850 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/riders-topple-tiger-cats/article1658776/ The Ticats led 14-13 at the half. As always, Rider coach Ken Miller gave a brief interview before going into the locker room. He said that they had figured out how to defend against the Ticats, and he showed complete confidence that the Riders would win the game. And he was right! Luca Congi kicked 7 FGs. The league record is 8 (Dave Ridgway). This is the second consecutive week that a kicker has kicked 7 FGs against the Ticats. That tells me that the Ticat defense is bending but not breaking. Arland Bruce tied the league record for 16 catches in a game. ***** Calgary Stampeders 23....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 20 http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=canoe&page=cfl/scores/final/recap.aspx?id=851 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/rambo-rumbles-stamps-to-win/article1658863/ This was a late game, and I had to go to bed. Looks like I missed a good one. I went to sleep after Ken-Yon Rambo, playing in his first game in over a year, scored the game's first TD late in the first quarter.
  22. Au contraire! I think I would need a couple of belts before considering it!
  23. The Eskimos fired Danny Maciocia this afternoon. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/eskimos-can-maciocia/article1658639/
